Blind Horse Knives- Frontier Valley, Initial Impressions

That was a REALLY nice review! BHK has some very nice offerings.

blindhorse are great knives! i have the patch, bushcrafter, and a little one that doesnt have a name. i picked up the no name from dan at the indy 1500 gun and knife show. its tiny, only about 4" overall, with a 2" kydex sheath. my bushcrafter and my esee 6 are my woods knives, and sometime just my bushcrafter. also just for thought, blindhorse invented the slidelock on their kydex sheaths, and esee got permision from blindhorse to use it on their kydex sheaths. i forgot the post, but jeff from esee said if a blindhorse knife ever failed you he would personally buy it back. thats a pretty good reason to go ahead and get that blindhorse. rob

Thanks for the replies guys.

was really interested in their "pathfinder" before someone got all famous and ridiculously priced

That's just something you have to expect when multiple people are making money off of any product. That's just the way it goes, especially when it is something that is hand made by one person and bearing the logo of another personality. Have you ever priced and original Bear Grylls knife or an original Ray Mears Woodlore? In that light I don't think the price is all that high really. I have been looking PLSK2, I think it has a very decent price for what you get.

Seems like an English mark up. :D

How is the thinness of the handle? Would you appreciate it more if it had a fatter grip?

Lol, you have a point there! At first I wanted a bushcraft knife actually made in the UK. So...I priced a few and the ones I liked were all arounf 350 to 450 pounds which was just more than I was will to spend. As long as I can get knives made this well at prices like this I'll not be ordering one from the UK.

Me personally? No not at all, but I don't have really long fingers either. I like how it feels just as it is, and also I tend not to like knives with small blades but larger handles. But that is a personal "thing" of mine.

That looks great. The Long Trail liveitloud posted is one I had my eye on for awhile, though. Love that blade profile, and it has a lanyard hole, too.
Seems I can't stop looking at small fixed blades, even after moving away from them, and selling most of mine off :o

Yup the FV does come in scandi as it was the July 2010 special that became a standard option. I found a scandi long trail but can't decide between that or a boatail plus I want a scandi bushcrafter bad! :)
