Tell me all about your Blind Horse knives. I have been thinking about their patch knife as a pocketable fixed blade, and I would love to hear some owners' impressions of BH.
I've got the Bushcrafter, but it's off visiting a friend right now. Very, very impressive value at the price point!! Great fit & finish, comfortable, sharp, and gorgeous maple handles. It might be just a tiny bit small up front for my paws, but it's a great knife all the same and easy to recommend to others. Their customer service is also extremely good.
I also got a patch knife with acid etch and sheep horn (or something) handles, he was quite pleased with the knife from what I hear.
I have one of their small workhorse knives and i have to agree that it is a very well made knife for the price. I bought it from them directly at a show and they were very helpful and friendly in answering my questions. They are definately a good company to deal with. You won't be disappointed!
I have a Bushcrafter and it is a good value. On the Bushcrafter the blade is a little softer than most of my other knives. I talked to LT, at the show, and he said they do that on purpose so the knife is easier to sharpen in the field. If you pair the knife with a JRE Industries field strop ($10), you have a nice set.
I don't own any, but I've handled many, and they are nice! The edges that they come with are as close to perfect as I've seen NIB. I've also heard some awesome testimonials from some people that I put quite a bit of stock in.
I was also surprised at how good the handles on the small blades felt. I expected them to be too small to be practical, but they are great for getting maximum control out of a tiny package.
I have a lrg and sm workhorse, lrg and sm tigernapp, and a bushcrafter, great knives great service, great guys to deal with and shoot the shit with, talked to L T for 45 mins at the last show. Those patch knives are recycled saw blades, not the hardest stuff out there but ez as hell to get a good sharp edge on
I've got the Patch Knife with Maple Handles, a Large WorkHorse in red G-10, and a Bush Crafter as well. I love 'em all, but I think I like the Work Horse the best. It's a compromise between the other two blade sizes, the handles fits great in the hand, and they made a fantastic sheath for it.
I dont have a blindhorse patch knife.I just checked out website and i want one now.My wife thanks you for helping me with my problem. Those are some really nice looking knives.
Another big thumbs up here. Bushcrafter/Bushbaby combo. Great little knives. In fact, by son liked them so much I had to order a second set for me Little rat!!
I got the bushcrafter in a trade with another forum member.I really love it.It gets a lot of use and I have only sharpened it once in the 2 months I've had it.I'll be getting more of their knives in the future.
I met the owner/maker at a gun show I did up in Indy, and he was a really cool guy. His knives are great and well made. He does a good job of covering different sizes and uses with his different styles, and the handles are super comfortable.
I might actually pick up his line at the next show later this month.
I am curious as to the performance of 4140 as a blade steel. I use it a lot at work(machinist) but don't see the merits of it as a knife steel. I would love to know how it performs and holds an edge. I know it is a tough steel and would make an amazing chopper but for small blades I am curious as to its quality.
I am NOT making any bad inferences about this steel...when I say it is tough I mean TOUGH. I would just like to know how it performs.
