Blinged up my Rat 1 knife today.

Would you be interested in trading for the titanium clip. Price is what keeps me from getting one. I would like to send it in and get it anodized blue. email is iceman63755@gmail.com. I can supply you with my feedback on other sites. Just saying. Thanks, Mike
I had a titanium deep cary pocket clip on my RAT1 but ended up putting the stock clip back on. If your interested in buying one I got it from evilbay or amazon, just do a search and you'll find them.

Now that is some awesome knives. A bit out of my pay scale. LOL. Thanks for the eye candy pics. Mike
Thanks for head's up on what to look for. I'm not very familiar with the Rats until recently, so it'll definitely help me out. I'm looking for one as a gift for a friend's upcoming birthday, would hate to get a fake.

It's amazing they go through that trouble to counterfeit a $30 priced knife. I guess some places will do anything for a dime. Sadly, it's become more & more prevalent these days in the knife world and in all price-points.

These are the latest 2 I had custom ano done on them, took these pics the day I got them in the mail. Anodizing is like my "bling" theme lately...The Spanto is Light Purple, Bowie is "sunrise" it fades from yellow gold/bronze into purple/blue. Last one was a KnifeCenter special exclusive, came like that right out of the box. Totally awesome except for the obtuse angle on the edge which is going to need a re-pro.

I like anodizing because it adds to the knife but it's also tough enough that I can still EDC it every day & use it and it doesn't scratch or anything. I actually really use all my knives so that's a huge plus for me. I'm sure eventually it'll wear a bit but this electro-ano can also be re-done, so.

Have some pretty nifty bronze ano Ti handle nuts coming soon for the Bowie & will be replacing the spanto's standoffs with brass standoffs. I think it'll compliment the purple really nicely.

Also, the jimping on the top of the blade on the fakes is sharper than the real one. Most of the fakes have a silver pocket clip instead of black. I think I am going to order a fake just to run a comparison with pics and run a post here just to help out other buyers.

Once I looked at some pictures of real ones there are other differences too, though subtle. The choil is more shallow on the fake I have. I'm sure side to side there would be more differences.

It, too has the silver pocket clip.

I am going to pick up a real one, and will post a comparison thread when I do. That is a real issue with fakes. I figured nobody would fake such an inexpensive knife so I didn't do my due diligence.

I guess they just work off of volume sales. All the Rat 1's that I have seen on ebite that ships from China are fake. There are several US sellers that sells them also. It is a dang shame the auction site lets them do it.

Yes I was just looking at the mega auction site, and there are hundreds of fakes on there. Like you said, every china seller and some domestic.

Despicable

I have recently learned about many thing that are fakes there, hard drives, shoes, power tools, knives, etc....
Counterfeits aren't just handbags and sunglasses anymore.

Can't wait to get a real Rat. I must admit, upon recieving it (the fake) I was less than impressed and just figured people like them because they are cheap. Maybe now I will get what the "fuss is all about", like I did when I picked up my Mora and Opinels..... I already own several Ontario's and love them (especially since they are less than an hour from my house), but they are big boys.

Hi stoneproject. That is awesome. Thank you. I should have a Ti clip in a week or so if your offer is still good then. Here is my email. iceman63755@gmail.com Thanks so much. That is just the extra bling that will finish my blue Rat 1 . Mike
Looks sweet gunner! Now you need a titanium pocket clip :D if you get one I can anodize it for free for ya.

Thanks! They definitely are costly but worth it if you can take the hit. I never would have dreamed of spending $300-$400 on knives years ago but I guess that's just the market these days. They definitely pay for themselves though....Tough as nails and very easy to maintain when you know what you're doing. I've taken them all apart to tune & oil them up and they're well-oiled machines now. Addictive, too.

Nice, now you just need the anodized pocket clip to complete the picture. I've been looking for gold-ano Ti handle nuts for mine. They make bronze Ti and blue Ti...the only one close to gold is the brass, but it's actual brass, not brass-ano Ti so I hesitate. Brass can patina and just overall is softer. Handle nuts, screws are critical pieces and I don't want to have anything that can't stand up to the same amount of "stress" as the rest of the components. That's why I haven't replaced the G10 handle scale with some of the cool brass scales I've seen.

Blinged up another Rat 1 today. Added gold titanium screws to my carbon fiber Rat. View attachment 679502View attachment 679503View attachment 679504View attachment 679505

Sorry yours turned out to be a fake. It's amazing what people will settle for in order to save a buck. It's because of them that people like you end up getting screwed with a fake because they're so prevalent and accepted. These days it's amazing how quickly a product is cloned and counterfeited so soon after it's released. You're right about that, definitely not just handbags anymore.

I just think why buy fakes when you can have the real one. You're not going to get anywhere close to the same quality and I'm sure if used it wouldn't hold up even remotely to what the genuine article can withstand. I'd rather spend the extra money any day than to endorse and enable that kind of BS. Be interested to hear your comparisons when you get the real Rat.
