Bloody Warden modifications

Awesome work on the thumb serations. Maybe someday I'll be able to find a thin GW that won't cost my child.

Jerry: Is there a reason why you don't do thumb serations? I find they're quite useful in holding the blade and love my knives with them. Just curious.

Cheers,
BJB :D

btw, i really like the upper swedge, nice work. if i wasnt all thumbs, i might try to tackle such a job.;)

Very nice porkducci!!! Looks great!

I was thinking about making some mods to my DC/Blk GW... It arrived with scratches on the DC finish and the tip was ground pretty blunt... between 2-3mm less of the point when compared to my other GWs. So I was thinking... some new slabs (toss up between 2 diff materials) and adding a top swedge grind with teeth much like what was on the SJ Variant that was available on the Overganzaaaa (I think this is refered to as nuclear). and lastly, giving it a satin finish.

And now that I've seen your thumb serrations... I might just add those too! Thanks for the idea.

If you bought this GW straight from BCS, you might send it back in to the Busse Shop. My bet is that Garth will correct any scratches and/or profiling issues.

Scott... errr, skunker offered to replace it, but I bought a second for the collection and decided to make this one my user. But you are right... Garth may be a better option than myself. :D Maybe I'll shoot him an email with some pics and see what he recommends.

Thanks!

I love that mod!! When I recently received my GW I felt that if this little blade had thumb groves it would be near perfect. I may have to give something like this a try... however I may have to use had files versus the dremel.

If you use a file, I'm sure the metal you remove will be from the file, since the knife blade has been heat treated. The best wat to do thumb serrations would be prior to heat treat when the blade steel is softer, like with a checkering file. You will have to use some sort of abrasive cutter.

I am not brave enough to take my dremel anywhere near one of my knives. You are a brave (and gifted) man. Nice work.

Awesome pork.
Do you take beer as payment? How many twelve packs for you to do that to my black handled GW?

Well anyways, that's a great lookin' knife you got there, I would say it took a real "pair" to grind on a knife that is that nice stock,,,but with the Busse waranty on "unintentional" damage("I was just trying to make it purdy") you probably had nothing to worry about.

Or maybe you voided the warranty and will get a one year no INFI judgment against you for defacing the knife, either way

NO REGRETS.

The problem with doing work for other people is the job needs to be perfect. If I mess up on my own blade, no problem, It will still work, just not look perfect. If I mess up on someone elses, I have to get (some time finding another knife like it is difficult and might be more expensive) and start over hoping I don't mess up again.
I'm not worried about the warranty, what is going to happen to this knife? I won't be prying up the concrete in my driveway or anything like that!

So what type of cutter bit did you use w/your dremel? ... I may just have to try this sometime. :)

I used the 1" dia. X 0.040" thick cut off wheels and a steady hand. I finished the slot buy using one of the wheels with my hand and smoothing up the slot.
