Blow Guns ?

I used a 4' version 25 years ago. With enough lung power these darts stick into tree branches at the top of some tall trees.
With practice they are accurate. Usually with guns or bows people use one eye for aiming....
With a blow dart gun you use both eyes since the gun is in the center of your face.

The darts look like metal pencil lead size and shape.

Fun stuff.

You have a magical piece of cinematic information! I have been trying to remember the name of that movie for a few years now and keep drawing a blank on it. What is it?

Very true!

Yes, unfortunately I am fully aware of this long-standing nonsense in "free" countries like The United States and Canada.

In the early days of both countries it could have been realistic because there were so few laws even a somewhat dull person could be expected not to become an outlaw except by conscious choice.

Now? Federal, State, City and County Laws? Legislatures for all getting together for months out of the year, every year, to create crisis after crisis and then offer up the solutions to the crisis they create in the form of law. The regular person cannot hope to keep up. Lawyers, of course, exist on part of this, there is no one lining up to rid the law of such a cancerous idea.

I wouldn't want to see that happen either. Perhaps next time you and others should contact someone in such a situation privately instead of pointing it out on a public forum that is viewed by law enforcement personnel.
Public posting lets other Canadians that it is against the law, at least one posted on this thread.
I doubt pit is in danger of a local cop trying to find out his identity based on a post saying he was looking at blowguns

Wow a blast from the past......for the record I saw they were prohibited and didn't get one !!!

I've got a CS .625 & all the darts available, except the flechette darts (multiple dart with 1 blow). I haven't had the luxury of game huntin' with it yet, but from 60 ft, the bamboo buries 4-5" in my archery bag target. If it don't kill squirrel, it'll pin him to the ground long enough for me to stomp him or brain him with the pipe. Oh, and they make 2 thickness versions now. Standard & pro. standard being 1.5mm thick wall tubing & pro being 3mm thick walled tubing. I've got the pro & promise you it's stout. No bend whatsoever even with my 250+ lbs leaning on it as a hiking staff, which it comes with a ferule plug to keep dirt out the tube while being used as such.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to warn you about a lemon product that sounded cool when I saw it. Cold steel came out with a multiple shot dart set, very sharp broadhead darts and a double cone. You put between five and eight darts in the blowgun, tilted up of course, and then put the double cone in.

Picture for you

It sounds neat and at around five to eight feet is ok, grouping is large and penetration is poor. Out to ten to twenty feet the darts often fall short of their target, burying themselves in the dirt before hitting the target, or just bouncing off the target completely.

Save your time and money on this dart.

hmmmmm don't know what to say...

Used them to knock wasp nests from a ways away, used them on small amphibs with success with a dart with string, never had luck with them with rabbits (putting them behind the front shoulder at 3 yards) rabbit ran so far away I never did collect him).

I'm actually wondering about how many people have actually tested them, instead of just theory- Oh it should kill small game just fine etc, but have ya tested it?

They can combo with other weapons don't get me wrong.

But for the line of a walking stick I think I'll carry that line for a different use for general woodsbummin. A lightweight slingbow serves me better- will punch- reach and clear all the vitals and have more "shock" on small game, and the large arrow will somewhat immobilize it. This has been my experience. And trapping takes them all in stategy.

For me, blowguns are more of a "keep yourself entertained" implement more than anything else. To that end, I have never bought one, but have made a few, and my favorite ammunition is marshmallows. I think this makes the best ammunition for survival situations. Give me a bag of marshmallows and someone else a box of darts and we'll see who ends up with the most to eat and who spent the day getting swatted in the head with sticky marshmallows by their worthless, good-for-nothin marshmallow totin' friend with a stupid grin on his face.

here is how I carry my darts in the yard or field. Its a plano tackle box. The first two spots fit the bamboo darts, and the others you can custom size.

Here is the darts I could put together for you all.

CIMG7275.jpg

The top is the bamboo, an all around great dart. Its very accurate and is powerful. If you think because its wood its not powerful your wrong. My nephew missed the target and it stuck into his solid wood paneling in his finished basement!!

The second from the top is the plastic broadhead. It is for hunting and while we have not taken any game with it I think it will do a decent job. You cant really use these for alot of target practice due to the plastic. It will eventually break.

The third from the top is the most common, the metal broadhead dart. It is great for target and game. Remember that this thing will zing through most targets, including archery targets. The cone will just pop off and the dart will carry on. I will discuss targets tomm. These things are very durable and once you get a reliable backstop are alot of fun.

The fourth from the top is the broad head. It is basically the stun dart shown below it with a metal broad head on it. It is not sharpened but will cut decently. The penetration is not great since the ball slows it down. The stun dart is good for knocking stuff down if you like, or I guess motivating a lazy individual but I dont use them.

A close up

There is another broadhead dart that is like the metal broad head dart but with the head more like the broadhead but sharpened. When I find them I will post a pic.
.I will try and post the targets and backings tomm.
