what size/cfm blower do you guys recommend for a forced air burner in the style of the ones on IG's web site?

i have a 60cfm i bought when i made a coal forge years ago and it worked fine for that but my blown burner doesnt get very hot with it. is this too small?

thanks

I have a 75CFM to run a inside forge dimension of 8" X 14". Works great and achieves welding temps easily. What is your inside forge dimension?

i think its around 6''x14.

because i had it laying around i used 1 inch pipe for my burner. could that be the problem? if i went to 1.5 or 2 inch would it work better for me?

thanks for the help!

It's pretty difficult to get a proper gas/air mix in 1" pipe. I'd go with 1 1/2 minimum and have your gas input at least 16" from where it enters the forge. This will give it room to mix properly with forced air prior to combustion. There are many ways to do it but this has worked for me...

eric thank you so much for the info. i wasnt sure about the size of the pipe when i made it but it was free at the time!

i will be buying the correct size pipe this weekend!

thanks again

its a great blower and i i could have got it 3 times smaller for the price i paid i would have but i have it toned down and its working great. I will be listing my other blower in the forsale page shortley as i dont need it.
