Blown Deadline Cerakote Comes Through For Me...

3.5 @ 200 is pretty good really.

Sure, it’s a 200 yd gun—trajectory much beyond that will be a rainbow—and 3.5” is adequate for anything you’d want to shoot with it at that range. So absolutely, that’ll get’r done. Just a bit frustrating to be grouping under an inch @ 100 and have the group size open up to twice what you’d expect @ 200. Sounds like Garth has it well diagnosed, tho.

Yeah, sub-MOA is plainly unacceptable. :eek::eek::eek::D

Seriously though, makes you wonder what’s causing the pattern to open up @ 200. Breezy day? Coarse reticle? Puzzling.

Obviously you’ve discovered a very effective weapon that also happens to tick off a bunch of my own personal preference boxes.

Really wish I hadn’t asked—now I want one.:thumbsup::cool::D

I picked up a bushmaster stripped lower and buttstock for a BM450 build, I like the Bushmaster logo on a BM450 gun and Bushmaster closed down so theyre getting harder to find.

It's been my experience that a Barrel & Chambered action combo will tell you what ammunition it "Prefers" when shooting Extended Ranges. Not all ammunition is equal so you may have to try different off the shelf brands to find what Your Rifle likes to Eat. I've built quite a few LONG Range Big Bores and no Two were IDENTICAL still had to find the sweet spot. Reloading will always help to fine tune your "Load" for distance if you have the time and equipment.

Be sure to post pics once the build is done. I would love to see it.

Will do Garth. Looks like I'll be building up that stripped Bushmaster lower using a Larue parts kit, grip and trigger group and a Bushmaster stock, then slapping on a Larue upper and going with .223 Wylde chambering instead of .450BM, I decided against the big bore option. The only down side is a 2-4 month wait on the Larue upper.

In my experience Larue is worth the wait. They make top of the line stuff.

Thanks Garth, they were highly recommended and I like their approach. There's some good news, I can use my bushmaster lower on a pistol build because it has not yet been assembled into a rifle, so Ill be building a 300 BK pistol first because I can get that upper now, and working on the rifle when the Larue upper arrives.

Still searching for some range time to get sighted in.
Built pretty much identical rifle for my Dad and we shot his a few weeks ago. He didn’t want to wait for his to get cerakoted so his is just boring black. Got sub moa at 100 yards. 200 yards was just over 3.5” group off a bench. Still got a little tweaking to do on his though so hoping we can pull that in a bit.
Garth

Garth nice set. Love the cerakote. Different ammo might tighten up the 200 yard groupings.

Yeah I have some other ammo on the way. I will give that a try and see where we end up. Have a buddy that does a lot of reloading so he is gonna work up a test load for me and then we can tweak from there if needed.
