Blue mammoth and damascus

Like Glenn only a few Damascus patterns catch my eye and that only when the totality of the knife represents it well and to my eye that doesn't happen often so I'm not usually a fan either. However you sir have captured that with this knife, absolutely gorgeous. There is a distinctive flow to the knife from the color of the mammoth to the engraved bolsters to the pattern of the Damascus. I also believe when your lucky customer's name goes on that shield it will look just fine. Beautiful knife my friend.

Bugdoc,
Thanks for the comment. I honestly can't see that with this knife, but I have been looking at it for many hours while working on it, so I may be desensitized at this point.

An interesting thought on that topic. There was a time, not too long ago, where I did not like traditional knives with Damascus steel. My tastes have changed since then, so a lot of our preferences to styles and appearances may be acquired taste.

Also, as a wise old Indian once said (long before there were any worries about political correctness mind you) "If everyone like same things, they all want my squaw!":D:foot:

Thanks everyone for commenting.

Darcy, thanks for taking my comment in a good way, which is how it was meant. I forgot to say also how much I like the Mammoth. It is a fascinating and beautiful material, so great choice on that. Is it very difficult to acquire?

The mammoth is not hard to acquire if you have the money! This set of scales cost me close to $400 USD by the time I paid the shipping and customs charges. I can't afford to use it very much!

I bought this set from Mark Knapp, who is a member here.

Darcy:)

A truly beautiful knife!

Mammoth ivory is a stunning material 👍
