I love your work Don, but I could do without the skulls...they seem to be on about everything.

I'm sure I'm in the minority on this, and if they keep selling, who am I to say!

Don's trademark mosaic does indeed have skulls and ghost-like faces in it, but there's a lot more to it, there are also sharks, wolves, ants, lizards, radial patterns, even his initials, below is a closeup of the guard of a killer bowie of his, and I admit, when I first became interested in Don's work, I too thought that the majority of his damascus was that kind, but, I found out I was wrong, he has tons of different patterns, some are amazingly complex. The skulls type is one of his trademark patterns, and identifies him, so he uses it often, but he uses lots of others too. :)

I HATE to be a poo head here, but...

I'm not liking the shape of the handle. The blade and guard area are sublime, long and beautifully sculpted, but the handle seems 2 dimensional and "slabby". I know that the material is top notch, but it seems to me that a slight amount of sculpting/rounding of the handle's end would add SO much to the overall package. I do realize that this would sacrifice a certain amount of figure/color and that would be a major impact on the decision of the maker, just addin' my .02, hope no one's pissed.

I think you might not be seeing something in the picture though, which does make the handle look slabby, I have a stag bowie of Dons, depending on the angle the picture was taken, its stag handle would look the same as the ivory one, but, what you cant see, is that each half swells and makes the handle actually more like an oval, not flat as it appears, I have a feeling its the same on this bowie.

Here are pics of the stag handle, it could look slabby in a picture, but in person, its more like a cylinder, or an oval, rounded, not slabby.

Yes Ari, before noon today.
These were going to the NYshow this week but Megafish snaged them, so I had to put in some overtime and make two more bowies for the show, I'll try to get a pic up here today of the latest one (13'' blade) :D
