Blue Milie Pre-order Q

I've never bought from the place and never will.
Thats OK though as I don't like the blue anyway, and I can't afford every new knife that comes along.

Price is clearly out of my price range, customer service near non-existent and in addition I have to pay for mail insurance. Not interesting.

I don't think the price is out line for what people will be selling it for after it sells out:)

I've bought three knives from them and their customer service has been as good as any. They answer emails promptly and ship quickly. They do have a no returns policy on sprints and exclusives, but so do some other dealers who have very positive reputations. I think it just comes down to pricing, on which they are an outlier.

Of cause pricing is the biggest issue for me. 100% of cost deposit on the knife, with unknown delivery time is not really reasonable in my book too. $250+ is a big chunk of money in the knife budget for many people, including me. Also, considering price, the fact that customer have to pay additional for mail insurance looks super cheap IMO. Out of all dealers, who I ever bought from, only one has no return policy for sprints. His prices are so low, that I can understand this. With his profit margin he just cannot afford returns. From somebody, who charges well above most on-line dealers (including ones with a front stores like GPK, NGK, Knives+ and so on) I would expect something better than no return policy.
Everything what BBS does is in his rights, but I doubt if I ever will be his customer.

you can also pre-order the Blue Fluted Titanium Millie (in S30V), from another site right now. its about 20 dollars more than the S90V exclusive.

my question is, if you had to choose between em, which one would you pick, the blue G10 in S90V or the Blue Fluted Titanium knive in S30V?

maybe this topic deserves its own thead. ...maybe I'll start one as I am thinking about Pre-ordering one or the other.

Interesting and highly subjective question. Having owned a fluted Ti Military, once the initial awe wears off it's basically just an S30V knife. If you're into collecting, there's not much out there that compares. However, if you plan on using the knife, then the S90V Millie is a better option IMO. After all, steel is the heart of any knife. :p
The issue w/ the S90V exclusive is that is seems to be priced higher than what is should be for what it is.

I would choose s90v and blue g10. g10 (or CF) on a military is why it so good. 4.2 ounces vs 5.9 ounces is enough to tell the difference.

Check the fluted version weight. It weighs 5.1 iirc. The fluting over the regular Ti version makes the fluted reasonable for how big the knife is. 4.2 is outstading, but 5.1 is not bad.

I bought one knife from them and
customer service was just fine. As far as mail insurance - it's optional.

The insurance thing is an interesting point of discussion, especially in light of how the BFC exchange rules deal with it. Many discussions about selling and in threads in GB&U make it clear that insurance is to protect the SELLER, not the buyer. If you buy the knife and don't opt for insurance then it's still the seller's problem if it isn't delivered, at least as far as your credit card company is concerned. Wonder if PayPal sees it the same way?

It's a moot point for me anyway, since I'm apparently the lone guy who doesn't care for the Military.

I believe PayPal takes that position very firmly - shipper's problem, not buyer's.

PayPal's Purchase Protection Policy states:
"If you wish to open a Dispute through PayPal's Online Resolution Center, you must do so within 45 Days of making your payment or initiating your transaction in the case of Pay After Delivery."

Since BBS forces you to pay up front and there is no estimate on delivery, it may be more than 45 days after your purchase that the shipment actually gets lost. By the time you realize what happened, it's too late to file a dispute with PayPal and BBS can just say "Well, I guess you shoulda bought the insurance, Bub."

I consider a good return policy and customer protection to be part of the complete customer service policy. BBS obviously lacks in these areas when it comes to exclusive knives.

I already put my order in, so I guess I'm testing my luck.

I'd don't see the need to pre-order these; I don't expect them to sell out before being released (unless some scalper attempts to buy up the whole lot and sell them for $300+....to which I say "good luck").

well, if I'm spending that kind of money, I'll pay the extra 5 bucks for the insurance just to be safe. ...pre-ordered my blue Millie a few minutes ago. it will be my Christmas present from my wife. once it arrives, she will hold onto it until I get it christmas morning.

I am not sure why people are saying that BBS is charging too much for this. We all know that people will put it on the exchange for $350+ and it will sell immediately, just like the other S90V sprints and exclusives for the para2 and military.

That would be right as far as timing goes if it's pre-paid.

I have not and will not pay those inflated prices. I guess I might expect a dealer to not mark up like an individual would. If KW can sell the green PM2 at $140, then the blue at $190 is simply too much, and pure profit.

ya, people unfairly gave KW a lot of crap because they didn't get the green PM2 for whatever reason. But those that did get one at least paid a fair price and not the hyper-inflated prices we saw in the exchange, or a similar reflection of anticipated secondary market prices that we see here.
