blue thumbstuds

looking at my 21 now, i'd say that the chamfer DOES improve the ends of the jimping. it extends past the jimping for a little ways and then leads nicely into the rounded blade spine...

now i'm also curious to know if all 21's have this or if this is a newer thing?...

It must be a new thing along with the blue lanyard pins. I looked at the vid with my large micarta 21 and it had the same jimping as my large regular. I hate when CRK makes these changes and you don't know if it's permanent or temporary. They did a short run in 2004 I think that had much larger jimping and then it disappeared.

I want to buy a small 21 micarta but who knows if I can still get the old jimping. Luckily the Mnandi still has it.

yeah, i think even CRK sometimes doesn't know what's going on :)

for example, emailed them recently, asking about different blade grinds that they do and their answer (while polite and sincere) was wrong. looking at photos of other people's knives, there is clearly a knife-to-knife difference between some production knives (and i'm talkin' plain jane sebbies here, nothin' fancy).

but back to the jimping and just to be clear: the spacing on the 21s looks to be the same as that on the regular/classics i've seen. what looks to be different is the longitudinal chamfering that runs along side the jimping...

Agreed. The spacing is the same, it's the longitudinal part thats new. Makes it narrower. And it's less polished and that bugs me.
