I carry my xm3.5 warncliff and ,xm3.0 warncliff daily they both have all blue titanium hardwear.not even one month and its wearing off fast.anyone else having this problem.I guess its just for show pieces not users.pkuss I had to return a set of each one had a totally unfinished screw the other the center wasnt anodized..im just going to flame anodize them it last longer.they looked great new just dont last at all.

I guess that makes 2 of us. I just put mine on last week and started carrying this week. It wasn't work off but id like to know if it will otherwise I won't carry this one.

that sux doesnt it.soending 7.50$ per tiny screw you expect a little more not just for show

Hey guys......the ano is a thin oxidized coating that occurs when the ti is subject to a low electrical current......kind of like titanium "rust".......it generally wears pretty well but it can "seem" to fade......this is due to the oils on your hands or other normal chemical reactions that occur by just touching your XM.........just spray a little Windex on a paper towel and give your ano'd hardware a quick wipe.....it should bring the color right back up........
I carry XMs daily - either blue or bronze ano'd XMs with matching hardware - and after a year the ano'd hardware is still looking great.......
Hope this helps.......

I understand what you are saying about I have done it all to keep it new and after a year mine will be silver.im just warning people who carry every day to undetstand it only a couple of month coating.if you are a chef like me no matter how much windex and wd,40 you use it will be off in seconds.this it doesnt absorb or protect it just shines it.im asking for a hard coat for a hard use knife.im not bashing my knife,at all just the anodizing used on the hardwear.its very expensive should last longer.you guys dont sweat like we do .its supposed to be tough.a hardcoat or even flame would last.everthing for the xm us supposed to be hard use if the aftermarket ti hardware isnt just state that.

I can't speak for how long mine have lasted since only have two new knives but I have other titanium materials that last and last for years with hands and sweat touching it thousands and thousands of times. Don't know what or why this hardware would/could be different. Maybe some titanium gurus could chime in. I know an extra little voltage once the piece is the right color will give it a tad thicker coating but other than that I do not know of any tricks.

all new bought in last 2 months im not the only one I have a friend with the same problems.barly finished Ti hardware and not lasting long at all.I had to return two sets onre to monkey edge tgey were so upset saying unfinished ti has been a problem they overnighted ut back to me.and the other was howes and I had to goback threw hinderer cause I bought there last one so I kept them and one scale screw has no anodize cor were the hex goes in.very disappointed

Certainly we will bring the thread to Robs attention, let me say this. I NEVER harbor any expectations about "finishes" my EDC's are SW or WF period.
Too many variables in what is considered "normal" EDC.

I (Again) direct your attention to the stickies - this is not and isn't going to be an open thread for possible warranty discussion or product discussion.
Period.

One off discussions on specific situations are just that.

im not crazy upset I love my knives but the aftermarket ti hardware has been bo good for me also I never got a answer back from the hinderer website ever for anything I have asked

I will dialogue with Rob and see "If" there is anything to report back regarding "recent ano treatments" - I will report back.

That is where we can leave this. If my tooth kills me Mike will certainly avoid my Dentist and talk to Rob.

Titanium anodization isn't durable and is largely cosmetic. If it isn't protected or recessed, it wears rather quickly and can be scratched pretty easily. Conversely, titanium itself is pretty tough, the stonewash and working finish hardly show any wear at all.

You paid for Ti hardware, the price is the same whether you buy the natural finish or if you buy the blue or bronze anodized hardware (i.e., you pay nothing extra for anodization). I'd never expect titanium anodization to stand up to much wear from daily use.

Does the finish itself have anything to do with how long it will take the anodizing to wear off? I ask this because I have a bead blast anodized blue XM-18 that I've carried quite regularly and the anodizing has held up quite well.

Yes, the anodization seems to hold up longer on the rougher finishes and not as long on the smooth/machined finishes. Also, it doesn't hold up well to abrasion, so parts that stick out from the body (pivot, clip, screw heads) will wear faster.

I just noticed one of my screws is basically silver as well(was the ano
d blue) I was thinking about maybe taking the blue hardware off as it has not held up well to the few times I have carried this knife.

RDA beat me to it, but he is spot on. Electro ano is not a durable finish compared to a coating of some sort, and will show wear if carried and used. How long? That I can't answer specifically because there are too many variances. If any of you have something you are unhappy with simply contact me directly and we'll work with any product problem or flaw you may have.

I just want maybe in the future do a hard coat anodizing on them.or flame anodizing.the electric comes off way to easy.I just want every part on my knife to be hard working knife down to the hardware.thats what the xm18 stands for.im going to get them done professionaly anodized hardcoat blue.I didnt buy my knives to keep in a safe or on display I usem and I get a little discouraged when I look and see the vlue going so fast.just want everyone to no that if you buy the colored ti hardware and want to edc the blade it will fade on you if you use it for work it will go even faster.thanks
