Hi Everybody,

Here is a NMSFNO that I stripped,
then heavily modded the handles To fit my Big ol' hands.
Then I satin finished the blade.
I did all that when I was in Queen Creek 8 months ago.

Then a few weeks ago I blued the blade.
I applied Burch wood Casey's cold blue paste, about 6 coatings.
Rubbed it down in between coatings to get it all even & smooth.

Black blade with out the coating :D

Any of you older Knife nuts may remember the "flight of the intruder" bowie some other company put out in the late 80's ? It had a Blued blade as well

I think it turned out pretty cool. What do you think ?

Very nice. Thanks for the post, David. Great work and great idea !

Cool :thumbup::cool:

I wonder what kind of designs could be made with the blueing..

Temper line maybe..?..

IIRC you can skip the satin finish and blue the decarb layer.

Busse decarb is Good : it can be GunBlued. I strip only the blade, so the steel under the scale is protected against the rust.

Wow, that's nice! I like the nice deep hue. Well done! :D

Dave, mate, that is VERY nice! Great job!

Let me know when you've sent it and I'll keep an eye for the the mail man. Cheers mate.

:D:D:D

Once you strip the finish, I guess this decarb layer remains, it is not removed with the stripper? What is it, is it another application of undercoat finish in itself that can be blued or just a "roughing" treatment on the steel itself like glass beading?

Dave, that looks great man! Does bluing steel help with corrosion resistance at all?

Sweet. Does this mean you are adding blade refinishing to your list of services?
