Blueing/Blackening Aluminum?

Anyone had success blueing (blackening) aluminum? I'm considering trying it on the scales of a Leek or Chive... I'm curious how well it would wear over time.. or not;)

Aluminum can be anodized, but it does not hold up well. It's best left in it's natural state.
 
see if you can find a place that can do type 3 anodizing make sure they have milspec thickness though. like a SF light.
 
No matter what the type of anodizing, the layer is thin hard, and brittle. Anodizing aluminum is not inexpensive. It can be done at home, but requires more equipment than is practical for a knife or two.
