Blues' Blade Show Booty

That Halfrich Hunter was really sweet, I chicken eyed and coon fingered it (or one just like it) :) very smooth and easy to open.

There was one in bone and one in stag (which had been purchased by John Hanlon) on the table when I met up with Jerry. Fortunately, I was able to purchase mine from Lee Grogan who also hooked me up with the swayback from Mike Zscherny. Lee's one of the good guys.

Elliott, I know I have posted this one somewhere in the forum before, but I can't remember where?

It is my Case 3 Dot, 61051 LSSP, Lockback, Jigged Wood which I have had since new, and the leather has been there as long. Looks like a twin to yours. Good taste amigo, even though I'm surprised you'd opt for stainless. ;) :) I'm guessing these may be rosewood. What do you think?

Ford,

Thanks for posting an image of what the knife "really" looks like.

Mine's a 4 dot or I'd steal your image to use in my albums. ;)

When Randy showed it to me at the show I thought it was a pretty cool little knife. I'd not seen one before. When he offered it to me for the little bit he had paid for it, how could I refuse, stainless or not? Great little carry knife.

No idea on the wood though.

BTW, Ford, doesn't all this make you feel like you need to attend the "show" next year? (We'll pull ol' Thomason out of his rocker, strap him to the roof of the jalopy and head out on a mission from God like Jake and Elwood! ;)

Very nice additions Elliott..
I was going to ask how your trip was, but by looking at the beauties you brought home with you, I'd say it was a good trip...

Thanks, Mike. The knives were the gravy but it was the people that really made the show special.

Lee took my dang cotton sampler ;) Good for him, but I've been curled up crying in a corner since Friday.

I tried, Campbell.

At least I was able to help you get that orange beauty!

Hey Elliott, just in from a day of kayaking the Buffalo River. Man it was perfect out there today. I'm sore and sunburned and likin' it.

I like the way you think amigo. If we can't pull Thomason out of his rocker...well heck, I heard of a guy named Gus who just straps the rocker and all onboard, and it's "petal to the metal and damn the torpedoes". :D

Tried to get a few better images than the first go round, other than the Chamblin which gave me a hard time shooting, I think I succeeded somewhat.

Ya, those look like the knives I had in my hot little hands at Blade. Everyone of them is a stunner.

Elliott, that's quite an improvement in the photos. Your gettin' a lot miles per megapixel out of that 1.3 digital of yours. :)

It's nice to enjoy looking at those fine folders. Halfrich and Chamblin....man that's a sweet combo.

Guess when I eventually move up to a new camera after all these years, I'll have to send this one to Gus. (He's worse than me since he doesn't have one.)

Thanks for the feedback, Ford. Maybe some day I'll break down and make myself a light box so that I can try to take more respectable images.

Blues

You really came back with some nice material ---- all bone and stag -- no synthetics for you!!

I like every one of them but am particularly drawn to the Swayback by Mike Zscherny. He sure is making some nice knives.

Nice adds to your collection.

Thanks, Rick. Having admired many of the knives in your collection (past and present), I very much appreciate the feedback.

I was very impressed with both Mike's work as well as the kind of man and knifemaker he is. I'd met him in passing in years past but never got to know him as I did while at this show. The same can be said for Joel and Jerry as well (and many other makers whose work is not displayed in this thread).

What a great experience on a variety of levels. It's important to me to own knives by makers whose work and character I respect and this year I was able to accomplish that in spades.

Gentlemen, those are most impressive lockbacks you have there:thumbup:

Ridiculous that CASE doesn't offer them today:confused:

If they do reissue those lockbacks, I hope it will be with bone or stag and CV.

(Is that too much to ask? ;))
