I have been wanting to do low temp bluing for a while,I just had a friend offer to weld me up a tank any size I want out of Stainless.
I dont do alot of bluing mostly cold bluing gaurds, but any size...I dont want to get absurd, would an oval tank about 10 inches deep by 18 long be a good size to cover any knife making and small gun parts.

Actually, the tank for bluing can't be stainless. It must be a steel that will rust. Plain cheap sheet steel is what you want. If you want a primo tank, use black iron. I just got one and it is 12X6X6 ,IIRC.

That size would work fine. I don't remember cautions about stainless steel but carbon steel works fine and holds up well. Make covers when the tank is not in use .Keep aluminum and copper out of the tank !!

Stainless would make a dandy quench tank though ...

Aluminum will be instantly dissolved and the solution foams !! Copper will kill the solution. I remember that some blue stainless guns with the standard solution which just turns the stainless grey but with no problems with the solution.
