Blur thumb studs.

For the past year I've been mostly carrying my pm2 or manix2, but recently I've rekindled my love for my 1670blur after taking the time on the sharpmaker to fix a chip in the blade. But the thumb studs are wreaking havoc on my thumb after about 4 days of carry. Should I go buy a small file or will the file on my leatherman blast be able to smooth out the thumb stud?

I'd try your Leatherman first. They're pretty good and will most likely work.

I've used the files on those more than I ever thought I would before getting them.

Look at the angle on the stud and apply pressure against it straight up into it,,, sounds like your not pressing in the right direction??? Open mine all the time with no problem. When I first got it I made the same mistake! It's not like other knives!:cool:

What doubletree said. I had the same problem at first. Once you have the technique down you won't feel the jimping at all.

I had no trouble with the Thumb suds on the Blur I had, can't advise you there. If you do want to smooth them down I would use a dedicated tool. Save the leatherman file for unforeseen jobs that pop up. That is what a Multitool is for IMO.

Good advice craytab. I change my answer to that.

I had a ZT 0700 that had the same thumbstuds and I didn't have that problem either. Honestly some of the best I've ever had.

I think you are 100% right. After actually paying attention to where I place my thumb I've realized I've been doing it wrong the whole time. What an idiot I am.

I knocked off the rough edges on mine with a coarse stone. Go slow. Blur studs are the best I've ever come across IMO.

Glad to hear that worked !,,, Blur is a great knife, think a lot of people do the same thing thinking its a design flaw?
