I was manipulating my 42 last night and it flew out of my hands, well it hit my crystal ashtray and it put and nice size dent in the blade(I was TOTALLY pissed).
So my qestion is this: Can I send it back to benchmade without any problems of them taking out the dent/chip,and will it still fall under the "life sharp" warrenty?I'm just wondering if they'll try to charge me.
Also since it has the chip, and it's not just being re-sharpend,will this change the look of the blade when they sharpen out the chip/dent?
Thanks to anyone who can help me out...peace

Here's an interesting ethical question: can you ethically send it back to BM and ask them to fix it for you under warranty when you broke it?

If you bought a nice new car and, on the second day of ownership, wraped it around a tree, would you expect GM to fix it for free?

Come on. Take responsibility for your mistake. If you want BM to fix it (and yes, this will require changing the blade profile), call them up and ask them how much it will cost telling them that you broke it and that you insist on paying for the repair, have them tell you what it will cost, and then send the knife plus the payment.

Gollnick: I think you took my question the wrong way,I wasn't really expecting BM to give me anything for free,I just was wondering if this still fell in the category of being re-sharpend,cause actually i've been wanting to send it in for a sharpening even before this incident happend anyways.
But I guess it was my fault on how I worded it,I said:"'will benchmade try to charge me",when I should of just said:"do you think benchmade will charge me for this".
Well anyways I'm kinda P.O'd that it's going to change the profile of the blade, but hopefully they'll keep it to a minimum and try to keep it looking as original as possible.
