Bm 710 d2 = pm2

I've owned dozens and dozens of AXIS Lock folders from Benchmade and never once had an Omega spring break. I even had a 556 I carried for 6 or 8 years and the last time I took it apart before trading it (like a moron), the springs were covered with rust but they never failed. I was able to scrub them clean with a good gun oil and some 0000 steel wool and other than some minor pitting and staining, they worked like new.

I found out a while back that the majority of people who claim to break Omega springs (not saying you don't, I've just never seen it) flip their knives open and closed - a lot. I don't. Maybe that's why?

All I know is, the AXIS Lock is absolute ambidextrous perfection for a folder in my opinion.

Exactly right. Lots of younger owners hold the lock down and flip like crazy. That is not how the knife was designed to operate. I have a 585 and have never ever had the slightest issue with the lock or spring. But if you look for trouble with a knife, trouble will find you.

I guess I don't put my pm2 as high on a pedestal as most

Long time 710 lover and new PM2 owner. The only knife I consider more "blade efficient" than the 710 is the Spyderco Southard. But I think the "push-a-bility" of the spyder-hole and jimping design of the PM2 is more beneficial than the extra blade length the BM offers. Both ROCK and will serve well for most purposes.

Yeah, who needs an extra inch of sharpened edge? It's not how long the blade is, it's, er, how you use it, right? ;)

LOL That's what people with small blades say! I like that extra inch that lets me chop an onion, apple, orange, or any larger object with one slice.

Oh, I'm on your side. That was sarcasm and me taking an opportunity to make the kind of joke my gutter mind requires ;)

I prefer the 710 in part because it's has an inch more sharpened blade in the same amount of pocket space as a PM2.

Great design, it took me years to get one, I've got an early one that has the balisong logo and ats-34 blade, love it.
