BM 710 or Emerson Mini-Commander?

You don't have to worry about that. This ain't that Usual Suspects board. This is 710 territory, and the truth has been spoken.

When you first get an Emerson, the lock is "sticky" during its break in period. Lockup is perfect and all is well. After the break in, though, sometimes things will go downhill.

Another thing I noticed was that if you rub the tang of the closed knife on your pocket lip (vigorously), the lockup is good again.

I know this is an old thread but this is the first time I've ever heard anyone else mention this. I can't understand why that happens. I bought my Snubby 3 months ago. Sent it into EKI for liner lock slipping 2 months ago. Came back perfect. Now it's slipping again. When I rub the lock tang on my jeans, a towel, etc., it locks up fine again......... for a while. I don't feel like paying to send it back to EKI again, and honestly don't feel I should have to pay. The knife's been used but not hard. I don't abuse any of my knives or tools. No spine whacking here! I gotta admit...... I don't know if I'll buy another Emerson.

710 all the way

I took a metal file to my Snubby last night. Very slight layer of metal removed from the liner lock face and now it's solid. There was an indentation from the lock tang right at the upper corner of the liner lock face. I'm wondering if that's why it was slipping with moderate pressure upon the spine. Now it's solid again. Actually, it feels the most solid it has ever felt.

I like the 710. I wish it was slightly thicker blade but with D2 at .115 it's not bad. Now.... how could I Wave it? :)
