I love style of the 707 but like bigger blades, so the obvious choice is the 710. Problem is that I hate the style of the recurve blade on the 710 and wish they would use the blade style of the 707 on it (just bigger obviously). Did they ever make the 710 this way or would you like to see this combo?

As far as I know the 710 has always had the gentle recurve. Do you prefer no recurve or a stronger recurve?

The 707 has no recurve so he probably doesn't like recurves

The closest thing I can think of from Benchmade is the 520. The handle is a lot bulkier than the 710 but it has a normal blade shape.

Check out the 805--same length blade as the 710 but looks like the 707's.

That is what I was figuring. I didn't like recurves for a long time either, it was the awkwardness of sharpening them that completely turned me off to them. Now that I can sharpen them, I have a new appreciation for them.

kreole - The 805 is my favorite Benchmade design. It's a beast of a knife for sure.

Thanks guys.. yeah, the only recurve I have is a Skirmish and not that I don't dislike recurves.. but I just like the looks of the 707 blade shape better. The blade on the 710 just looks too skinny but I know that is on purpous as it's a purpose built knife.

I have always thought that the 710 should get the Doug Ritter RSK treatment.

When the knife is open, the top of the handle could flow into a thumb ramp on the blade. That would enable the thumb studs to be moved out from the handle, making it easier to thumb open. Lose the recurve if you like, and make the blade a higher flat grind.
