You know, that's the biggest thing about the 720 I think, it's size. Although I really love my McHenry & Williams 710, it's on the large side. The 705 is way cool too but it's on the small side.

The 720 is perfect!

Now if we could get benchmade to make a McHenry & Williams with aluminum scales along the same size as a 720, well now That would be tits & weenies!

I second the vote for a 720 sized M & W (call it a 707 1/2). That would be a wonderful knife.

I' ve carried and used the 720 for over a year now while in the shop. The grittyness of the aluminums handles varies a bit from batch to batch. Mine was fairly textured. But it is now somewhat smoothed out due to heavy shop use. In cooler weather environments it no longer provides a secure enough feel. I have since gone to the G10 handled 722. It is a bit lighter overall and the textured G10 handles provide an excellent grip in all kinds of weather. It gives that "warm" feel that aluminum simply cannot. However, the 722 is only made in tip up carry configuration. It' s the only "bugger" that I' ve never fully gotten use to. The 720 has since gone to tip up carry only as well. Earlier models had both options. :( But overall, the 720 series is a fine using EDC.

stjames, the 710D2BC1AL version would be "heaven" as well. Seems so logical to us--why can't BM see the light? :D

I just came across this forum looking for a Pardue 720. I have one that I have been carrying since 1999, I bought it on Ebay, I actually stole it from the guy, $125 shipped, it is a rare find though. My blade says "Prototype Shot Show 1999" (Bowie blade non-serrated) and the grip has a large oval with "Benchmade" inside it with a large "USA" shadowed behind it. I carry it everywhere, except on planes. I will be mailing this knife to myself when I fly to TX for a month next week. This is the best carry knife there is, period. I have dropped this knife on it's point a couple of times, and it is almost impossible to tell, I beat this knife up and it just smiles back. Pry open stuff, why not? Use as a small screwdriver? Sure. Cut everything from Network Cabling to rope, still sharp enough to strip a wire with precision. This is hands down the best knife you can carry. My only fear is that it will be lost or stolen, hell if I break the blade, Benchmade has to fix or replace it....
