bm axis....any comments on this one?

If you wanna know sharpening angles, I think there is a thread on benchmade.com forums on that.. whether it was answered or not i forget, but I know that the standard answer to that question (though I havent tried it) is use the 'magic marker' technique.

Thanks for the info edgeman. The Aries is definately on the top of my must have list. I wouldn't ask if the knife was still in the development stage, but since it is apparently almost ready for release and the final design has been settled on, can we see a pic? Also what are the specs? Blade length, handle length, material, etc.? I have been told that it may use multicolored g-10. I don't mean to pry but I am really looking forward to this one. I know it will be a top seller for Benchmade.

As long as it keeps that blade! It looks a little less intimidating than the 710's recurved, swedged rithing figure. Also, since I don't like swedges, I hope it doesn't have that- at least not a big one. Can't wait! I want one for my birthday! I'll be 18 on 1-13-00!

Hmm, is it the knives, the holiday cheer, or just too much eggnog? Nevermind! It's gas!

How did you clean the knife after dipping it in wet concrete? That's the hell of a test for a folder!!

The 705 is a very nice knife but I made the mistake of checking out a 720 at the last gunshow. Very impressive and solid. Now I need one of these,... even though a 710 is under the Christmas tree.

I sure would like to see the specs and a pic of the knife(the 730 axis) that is about to be at the top of my most wanted production knife list.

I've never held or used a 705 but I have both the 710 and the 720, and they are great knives. The 720 was only recently supplanted as my daily carry knife (and that was by a Sebenza). Can't wait for the Elishewitz 730.

I have both the 705s and the 710 axis locks. Both are solid feeling knives, tho my 705s is a pre-production model (#225 or something like that) that may differ slightly from the current runs.

No one can fault the strength of these knives, but it turns out that the strength comes at the expense of bulk. The 705's handle is a bit thick and heavy for my tastes and for my pocket carry (clipless).

If compact carry matters to you, then this is a consideration. I now usually pack a Spyderco Wegner Jr, Buck 501MS or a BM 330.

Technology's the answer, what's the question?

ACK! :::CHOKES ON OWN TONGUE::: Man, I don't feel so good now! OH well; I still can't wait to get one. Will it retail for about the same as the 710? If you can't tell us, that's cool.

The 705 is pretty small, but thick.

I have narrow hands and fingers that are slightly longer than proportional to my hand width. The 705 is a smidgen short, but has comfortable wrap-around.

It's definitely good for smaller hands, but I had to consider very carefully and feel it over at the LKS. Since then, it's grown on me.

I like liner-locks a lot better, but I'll make an exception for the BM Axis- great knife, although I wish I would've gotten mine with a satin finish, oh well.
