Just got my first bali, a BM42. I can't even believe how much fun this is. Anyway, since I can't leave well enough alone, I want to try some modifications, so I need to verify some things and ask some questions:

1. The handles and latch are all 6Al4V titanium, right?

2. What is the Rc of the blade?

3. How do I completely dis-asseble the knife (I think this may have been covered, so links to previosu threads are fine by me)?

4. Why are so many people afraid of balisongs? (that's a rhetorical question, don't bother posting answers here)

--thanks in advance,
JB

Yes and I quote the 2000 Benchmade Catalog:

"Handle: Skeletonized 6AL-4V Titanium; Lock Mechanism: Integrated Titanium latch"

#2. I believe the blade is about 57 Rc. I have heard 55-57Rc. and just 57Rc.

#3. It depends on what you are disassembling it for. Benchmade has Pocket-torx tool kit that can be used to loosen the torx head screw pivot points. I believe that you can take the torx screws out but then the other part of the screw is pressure fit and you need special tools.

For more info. Also on Gollnick's web page under BM42 there is A LOT of info that is extremely helpful.

PS Disassembling it (BM42) will void your warranty. I believe that Benchmade will be/is offering a disassembling service that will not void your warranty.
