BM710 Owners I need your input

Snce the axis lock was specifically designed to be opened with a "flick of the wrist," I removed the thumbstuds from my 710 D-2.

I just pull the lock back and "flick." As quick and easy as an automatic.

 I've had mine for at least 8 years and I have about 10 other high quality knives. The 710 is the easiest of all my thumb stud knives to open. I also am fond of how easy my flippers are to open. I have the ZT0200, the Kershaw Groove, and the JunkYard Dog II. I still carry my 710 more than any other knife as it is the smallest carrying of any big knife I own. All my knives are between 3.5" and 4" blade length.:D

First I heard of this. Where is this information from?

BTW - If you find the thumbstud difficult to use on the 710 and don't mind partial serrations, you may wish to consider the BlackWater version of the 710.

Thanks for all your input. I took the plunge and ordered a 710 black blade. I am sure it will see a lot of pocket time.

I normally use the basic thumb-push technique, but other times, if I want to open it quicker, I use my index finger to push the opposite stud. This way, I don't have to reposition the knife in my hand; I just close my fingers and it's in the saber-grip position.

Thumbstud works just fine, and I have my pivot screw adjusted fairly tight. Great knife, a classic.

Congrats and remember their is lint in pockets, I use the pouch it came with and it really helps, otherwise it'll need cleaning more.

don't forget to take some pics of it when you get it for us ;)

Thanks for all your input. Finally got it today. 4 days seems like a lifetime when waiting for a knife. You were right it is easy to open. A lot easier than my 705.

wow sweeeet! ;)
thx for the shot. 4 days waiting is a lifetime! lol
what do you think of the weight, feel, serrations?
I'm a PE guy myself.

I really like the weight and the overall feel. Very well balanced. It carries in the rf pocket like a smaller knife. Mostly I like PE blades myself but this will be a work knife. It is replacing a Spyderco SE Salt 1 which is an awesome knife. I cut grass and do landscaping and serrations are often a plus.
Funny thing is I haven't carried a large knife in a long time. I get the same feeling as when I first started carrying my Glock 26. A sense of responsibility that comes with carrying a weapon.

Forgot to mention that this is my first D2 blade. It came very sharp. I am hard on knives and this will be a good test of the endurance of D2.
Typical knife day= cardboard boxes, bags of fertilizer/top soil, small branches, extracting weeds out of the hard dry ground, twine, rope and the ever present cutting plastic to get at crap that I bought.

you know what's next for you, the BM 610 Rukus! (drool)
one big sucker, and I missed the pass-around for it! grrrr
