BM730 "Roll Call".............

Hi, Maybe you can help me? I have a Benchmade Model 710 BT. I recieved it as a gift. On the blade of the knife it says: FIRST PRODUCTION RUN. 1 OF 1000.
Is this knife #1 of a 1000 or is it just 1 piece of a 1000 piece run ???

You have one of 1000 knives produced.
Welcome to the forums.

Hello! I've got #969! Thanks Liong for the wonderful opportunity to own this piece of mechanical art!

I just got a plain edge 730. This was the first production run #115/1000 in 154CM.

where can one get a plainedge 730?

You can get any configuration production 730 at http://www.gpknives.com/. Just give them a call and they'll set you up with either a plain or half-serrated, satin or BT2 coated knife. I'm not sure if there's much pre-production 730's left anywhere.

Just got one from Grand Prarie.Guess I'm one of the guys now.

Just got my production 730 from Grand Prairie Knives. It still has ATS-34. I am really impressed with this knife. It feels alot more comfortable to me than the 710. It opens silky smooth. This will undoubtedly be my daily carry, for now.

Bevels left a bit to be desired thou. BM really needs better quality control in this area.

Speaking of quality, Earl from gpknives.com is a GREAT guy

Ordered my 730 late Thursday afternoon, and it was in my mailbox on SATURDAY )%#)(^#)(# Can't ask for anything better. I would recommend that you guys do your shopping there

Well... You're not gonna believe this!
I owned a 730 for exactly three days. It was a birthday present. It was a combo-edge with satin finish, # 0376/1000. The handles showed more black than pink and it was a true 154CM blade. I sent it back it back because I found a source that was $30.00 cheaper! Richard from Bladerunner knives in Tucson has them for:
$129.99 for satin plain, or $ 139.99 for Black Ti Plain or combo & in 154CM, not ATS-34 like so many others. He's also got Commanders for a decent price.

-Redleg out.

Wow! $110.00/$100.00!
Thanks for the tip.

I can't say enough good things about Grand Prarie Knives (www.gpknives.com). I ordered a 730, 140HS, and Spyderco Sharpmaker on Saturday, and got them all today. My 730 is "First Production Run #127" (154CM).

How should I keep it lubed? I usually put a drop of Breakfree CLP on the moving surface of my Spyderco's every few weeks. Any different for the BM's?

Zak,
Yes, I agree, GPKnives is great to do business with and thier prices cant be beat!

Sounds like you got some very nice "product" from them. The BM140/145 is next on my list too. I just bought a Sharpmaker 204, and it should be in the mail tomorrow.

Still lov'in my BM730S (#0038 of 1000 pre-production ATS-34)!

P.S. I went with the recommendation of another "Fourumite" on knife care......Sentry Solutions Tuf-Cloth and Tuf-Glide do an outstanding job! Check'em out at www.sentrysolutions.com
