Boa blade steels

Just curious - what blade steels has the Boa been made in?

i do believe that the really early boas (the first of the purple splatter ones if i am thinking correctly) were in 440V. the newer ones are in S30V i do believe.

i would love to pick up a 440V one for sure.

that was one with a black handle right? not the purple?

btw, does anyone remember what 440V is/was comparible too? i thought it was S90V...but i am not sure

Yeah ol, it's a black handle. Looks just like the S30V Boa.

If I remember correctly, the 440V is comparable to the S60V. Might be wrong, tho...

Yeah, the 440V is now S60V.

Yup, Used to be called CPM440V, now called CPM S60V. Same steel made by the same company called differently so as not to confuse from the regular non CPM 440 series steels. They used to call S90V as CPM 420V, which if going by the numbers would put the premium steel by CPM lower than the S60V. LOL - It also invites comparison to the infamous 420j2 of the Inox Acier fame as they both carry the same number.
