I talked to an owner of a knife shop about the speed of the Kershaw Boa. He said that it was one of the slower Ken Onion knives. He also said that he used a special tool to turn up the blade speed. How is this possible and is it bad for the knife.

hmmmm....the special tools you speak of are a straw and a cigarette.

...So that he can blow more smoke up yer ass.

:D

all kidding aside, I own the boa and find that it's breaking in and getting faster with more use. I lubed her up good and she's fast enough for me.

ah ;)
anyway, the boa will always be slower than it's smaller, lighter cousins
that's the price you pay for the blade

The "special tool" was probably used to loosen the pivot tension a little.

Probably a #9 Torx which is far from special.

Try that and see if it helps, but as the knife wears in a little you may need to tighten it back up some.
