Boar Hunting Blades

Hey, you guys who have the CS Laredo- Have you noticed any problems yet? Another guy found that his only had a stub tang secured with a piece of cable! Scroll further down in this thread for details. Can anyone else confirm or refute this?

Hate to be the wet blanket here fellas, but the last guy I saw sticking a wild boar used a Rapala fillet knife. Looked to be about 8" in the blade and the pig barely noticed he'd been speared for the first few seconds and then down he went. I suppose the reason he didn't really notice the blade was because he was pretty well anchored by the dogs. One had his left ear and the others had legs in their jaws.
I believe this is online somewhere on one of the boar-hunting sites. Wish I knew where. I'd love to post the link here.

I also heard of a guy, on one of these boar hunting sites, who actually killed one with an Old Timer slipjoint. Now the only way I could see that happening is if he put a pretty deep cut into its throat.

Yeah I heard of that, I personally have not had any problems with mine and I've had it for a little over a year. He might've gotten a lemon because I actually accidently smacked a tree with the broad side of the blade, pretty hard, and the blade was as stable as it was before. As far as I am concerned, it is a great knife but a little pricey. The SK-5 version, however, will cost a lot less.

CS has really gone to H$ll ,the natchez bowie looks not bad but $600.00 dollars is insane. You could get a nice custom for that. The thing with the missing tang is disturbing. I always wondered why in the heck the bagwells were made of 440A? Why not 1095 if price was a factor? There are not enough fighter style bowies out there so I really wish the bagwells were made of better steel.

Lets not go down the "cold steel sucks" path.
