Decided to hunt some varmints and predators today around the IL River. Brought my bowfishing bow to assist with invasive Asian carp control...Our deer population is down partly due to the huge coyote population. I sell furs and eat deer so its kind of a win win. No luck on the coyotes but I did see some neat stuff.

Ducks, they were lucky I had a rifle and a bow and not a shotgun, decoys, and duck call....

The Eagle came home to his nest when he heard the rabbit squeals, thinking it would be an easy dinner.

Great catch! I know they swim to and from an island I camp on, but I've yet to witness it. Thanks for the pics.

I almost ran over a doe swimming across a large lake this summer. (I was on a jet ski - thought it was a log)My friend got video of a bear swimming across same lake - from the safety of a pontoon boat.

I have seen them swim before but never had a camera handy, It is all grainy because I was zoomed in so much (according to the wife), I wanted to avoid stressing her too much. My main objective was to get some pics of coyotes and coons coming into the caller/decoy but no dice today.

Great pics and vid!

The video reminds me of a preacher I went camping with a few years back. He told the following story around the campfire. While winter fishing on a Georgia reservoir, he and his fishing buddy were hailed by guys in another bass boat that was simply drifting. When the preacher and his friend got up to the boat, they were shocked. The interior of the boat was beaten all to hell and back. Seats were broken, windshield broken, rods lay snapped and in disarray, and the two men were beaten and bloodied almost beyond recognition. Boat would not crank because some of the wiring had been torn loose.

Why? The two men had caught up to a deer swimming across the lake and clubbed it. They proceeded to drag it into the boat where it promptly woke up. You can imagine the rest. :D

WOW! That's looks and sounds like great day with all of the beautiful wildlife... Eagles always look so majestic, the largest birds in my area are the vultures, not so majestic...:beer:

Awesome pics! I have never seen a deer swimming before or an eagle's nest either. Very cool to see such diverse woods and wildlife areas from all the pics in the Becker forum.

Your making that up ain't ya? No way they would do that?

Great pics and video. I was impressed with how well that deer was moving through the water. Isnt it firearm season for deer where you live? Didnt you say you had a rifle and eat deer?:D

If he shoots guns like he shoots video, I can understand why he didn't try!

That is awesome though man!

Gun deer season starts this weekend but we only have shotgun and muzzle loader seasons (no rifle season). I am guessing DNR would frown on me cracking at deer on the water with a rifle. I pretty much only bow hunt for deer, I have a muzzle loader but too many weekend warriors during gun season for me. I pretty much stay out of the woods during the gun season, lots people shooting at anything to fill a tag not the time to wear your brown carharts and your novelty antlers on a hike for sure.

Thanks Cambear lol, the video is bad but trust me it looks better on the 1.5" camera screen:D I was going into the setting sun and trying to avoid running into a parked barge or run the boat aground (gets shallow and rocky fast outside the channel). But hey like I said in the OP, I am available for hire to video special events for cheap and will give you an even better discount:p...

Just snarkin' ya man... The pictures are pretty frickin' nice. I love being out on the water when I can. I don't get to too often, I don't have any boats or anything so it's rough.

I'm surprised nobody commented on the beer in the pic, I grabbed a 6 the other day when my pregnant wife was being extra pleasant. I told her I was up that creek without a paddle, she was not amused.

Neither does the deer, but does that stop him.....(or her to be correct--at least i didnt see any antlers--heck most of the time i didnt even see the deer) :D I'd hire ya ! Nice beer!

let aquatic deer drown ;) then recover them :>

I've seen deer do some strange things, but I never knew they could swim.
I bet that beer tasted even better with the satisfaction that you pissed off your wife further.:D
Thanks for sharing.

Awesome, I do some predator hunting, usually Coyote's:thumbup: My boss is very big into it so thats kinda how I got started. If your ever in the Lemont area, shoot me pm and maybe we can shoot a few coyotes. I also have word that a farmer in Kankakee wants us take a few off his property this year so it should be a good year. My boss killed a yote last year hat weighed in at 63 lbs I think, it looked like a wolf and had the prettiest fur I've come across:thumbup: Good to see a fellow Predator hunter in IL, its not all that comin of an activity:D
