Bob Andrews - Old Hundred Collectibles passed away

I remember the 2015 rendezvous discussion, well I didnt make it because I didnt know. Wasnt on the forums as much those days. Still remember asking all about it only to find out it had already passed. Missed a chance to hang out with some very cool people :(

Bob Andrews was cut and dry, he spoke his mind and was as honest as the day is long. The lion share of my knives came to me via Mr. Andrews. We spoke at length at the majority of every Redezvous and his company is one that is truly missed. There was a huge hole at last year's Rendezvous with him not being there and I can't imagine how it could ever be the same without him there. I met Bob on a bunch of occasions and bought some knives from him at a local sporting goods show. He was an excellent spokes person for Great Eastern Cutlery and our passions lined up pretty well. He carried a well used, well loved stag #73. He had pride in his eyes when he showed it off, it had miles on it that reflected the man himself. We were able to be real with each other, he respected and appreciated my opinion even though I was just a kid learning as I went along, that is something that left a mark on me.

He was real.

Rest In Peace my friend.

Today, I'll carry the last knife I bought from this friend.

I think he would approve.

Very sorry to hear this news. I purchased my first GEC - an ebony 33, since sold - from Bob. He was in that interaction, and in all subsequent ones, very forthright; a quality I admired about him. Sincerest condolences to his near and dear.

My very first traditional (since I was a kid in the 70's) was from Bob - my #55 spear in autumn gold. Also my most recent knife was from Bob - my H10 fixed blade which I carry often.

Thanks for the pic Brett, it's nice to put a face to him. He was a great member who contributed much to our little world here.

My condolences to his family and prayers sent.

I received a knife today that I was a bit sad to open. A GEC harness jack SFO. The last knife I will ever receive from Bob, who has been so great to deal with.

Here's to you Bob, a picture of the first and last GEC I bought from you, pictured on the hand rail of my deck.

I wish Bob could read these posts. I write this with tears in my eyes. As fellow bricklayers we had a lot in common to talk about. I sure miss him , but hope to see him again.

Thanks Sarah for the picture , I know how much you miss him too.

My phone got destroyed and I've lost pictures of yesteryears sadly.

I purchased many knives from this fine man. May he rest in peace. God Bless the family

Just now seeing this thread. I am really sorry to read this. Thanks to the OP for posting an address where we can send a note to Bob's family.

I bought some knives from Bob over the years, usually on the phone so we could chat. He was a straight shooter in every sense and a great knife man. I always enjoyed talking to him and sure will miss him (along with his frank and opinionated BF posts!).

A while back he had some Old Hundred t-shirts made up and he would give them away with knife orders. Pictured are mine, which I will continue to wear with pride. Also shown are my last two knives from Bob, a pair of beautiful 92s.

RIP, Bob.

Andrew

I was thinking of Bob today and remembered how he would always post his GEC pictures on the rail of his porch. He and I would have long and enjoyable email discussions about which was the nicer looking of the GECs he had in stock and it was wonderful. And he had a blog which was always a pleasure to read.

RIP Bob I never met you but I cherish those memories and I miss you.
