I made quite a few of these kits trying out different sizes of tubes and set ups. I like all of them for different reasons.
The one on the far left (a 2 liter bottle before it is inflated) is indestructible and tiny. It also has a spot near the neck that is smaller and holds the line perfectly for travel. This would be the small go to kit of choice.
The middle one has a little more room and is a little easier to wind. But it takes up more room and is not as tough. Pictured above
The right one is a bit tube and is the largest. It can be expanded to be even more huge. It would be the kit to have if you can spare a little toughness and would be doing serious fishing. It could hold tons of kit and is easier to wind with crank baits.
The draw back to building these kits is that you have to buy so much crap to make ONE kit. It is not like they sell 2 hooks - you have to buy a dozen. Cant buy 60 yards of line - you have to buy 300 yards... and so on.
Because of this - I am going to be selling all my extras in the form of the 2 liter kits soon to get rid of the extra kit!
Anyway - I caught a BUNCH of fish on the kit pictured above. I would wager in three outings (in lakes wherever I walked up to) I caught 5 - 8 pounds of fish (mostly blue gills). I was VERY happy with my kit and I know if I set up drop lines and spent a day or two fishing - I would be set with protein for some time.
