If you have On-Demand or other means of watching the show, check out the "handmade" episode.

Everything on the episode is fascinating, but especially the damascus forging done by Bob Kramer in the handmade knife segment.

There's also a segment on hand forged armor. Also a handcrafted gun smith.

Hope this isn't old news, and (Stacy), I hope you don't mind me posting it here. Just seems like ya'll would appreciate it more than most.

I'm gonna go watch again to try and id as much as I can in his shop. :)

Sorry, I think it's on H2? Yeah, it's a new(er) episode, but I'm not sure when it's broadcast. I use xfinity on demand. I'm sure other services have it.

Any ideas on how he fits his bolsters? I noticed a notch at the bottom of the handle. And I imagine the brass is friction fit and then pinned at the top?

Go to Google and download the chrome browser, then download the hola extension for it. It should unlock us only out uk only sites. I use it for Netflix. It may work for this, it may not.

That sucks Sam. Why in the world would CBS not make it available in Canada... Weird. I'll see if I can find it elsewhere.

Edit- you know, looking at the videos available about him and his work, if you can't find the other videos those cover a lot of the same things. Part of why it's so cool is simply because a knifemaker got time on a couple of major network shows. Usually the feature is so dumbed down that I just role my eyes as they explain the most basic aspects of knifemaking, yet don't allow enough time to cover anything else. We already know everything that they show in the CBS and H2 videos, but at least they're interesting.

I've seen his others and I know there won't be anything new on the making side, but it's interesting to watch and see what points the tv people cover

I guess I watch them for the marketing aspect.

I watched the Henkels (they have a collab?) vid and was surprised to see that there wasn't any marketing at all really. Over stylized for sure, but I don't recall any marketing.

What aspect of marketing do you mean? How they (any maker) promotes their product, or? They mention the high cost of his (Kramer) knives, but temper (heh) that by mentioning his status as a MasterSmith, also pointing out that there are only 114 in the world. I didn't know that.

Maybe I'm being obvious, but really wish that there was more knife making in the media. I find it endlessly fascinating and can only imagine others would too if they were only exposed to it. Kramer himself said that his own realization that knife making was his destiny came about after stumbling upon an issue of Blade magazine. That's pretty cool.
