BOB light

I EDC a AAA mini-maglite 24/7 chained to my swiss army knife in my pants. I have a 3 AAA headlamp (LED, white & red modes) on my nightstand beside the bed, and a regular 3 D-cell maglite in my workbag. I have an LED crank light, 1 for my home emergency kit, 1 ready for my BOB when I get one ready...

My BOB light is a Surefire 6P with a Malkoff M60LL LED drop-in. It has crazy-long run times, provides plenty of light and excellent durability. I also have a single cell extender for the body which means I can run it on either two CR123 cells or two AA's.

I also have an E1L with an extra body that allows me to use two AA's instead of a a single CR123.

Are you seeing a pattern? I like CR123 lights. I think they pack easier and feel better in the hand. But, I also keep AA batteries for other electronics in the bag, so having a light that can also use them just makes sense.

I also have a couple coin-cell key chain lights in there.

Both for me too.

Headlamp is a Petzl Tikka XP 2(3xAAA)

Flashlight right now is an Olight T25 Tactical(2xAA). I'm hoping to purchase a Surefire G2XB fairly soon though.

I carry both, Surfire E2DL and a Princeton-Tec Quad Tac. Then a Fenix or Inova here and there.

I need a big spot light though.....:D

Both. A Surefire A2 white with a filled spares carrier. A Zebralight (123. I can never keep their damn model numbers memorized) with a two cell spare carrier. Being winter, I have a Quark Mini123 Ti in my vest pocket as well. I like the SOS and beacon feature in many of the newer lights. I would like to see the moonlight mode offered in more models. I keep eyeballing a RA Clicky custom in orange. Easy to drop 3 C-notes if you throw in a couple of accessories.

....a headlamp gives me hands free area lighting. In other words, i can perform tasks without having to hold onto a light, wherever i look, there is light...

Being a climber myself I am with bushman on this one. Headlamp hands down.

I was a Petzl guy but I recently got a LedLenser led headlamp and I was absolutely surprised! Best bang for the money. Adjustable beam, adjustable brightness... and pretty cheap as well! About 160 lumens max.

I think a headlamp is a must. I don't have one in mine but am on the look out for a decent cheap light that uses one or two AA's.

I realy like the old AAvmaglight converted to LED the batteries seem to last for ever. Its bright enough to hike in the mountains in total darkness( done that ) Easy to find extra battries as well. That little light is as tough as i need it to be. Another one im getting to like more and more is the little solar light from swiss knives. It would take about 4 hours to drain the battery and one day of light to charge it up all the way. Small and simple light. Used that light on camping trips to go to the bathroom and others used it as well, with no problems.

It'd be the same light I use for backpacking, a Petzl Taktika, using 3xAAA batts.

There are plenty of newer, better LED headlamps. I'm sold on the Petzl brand, and will replace my existing light with another Petzl when it wears out.

It shows no signs of wearing out, though.

Picked up a Surefire G2XB a few days ago. Love it. Simple operation, and the two modes is all I need. The 15 lumen low mode is plenty for 98% of stuff I need it for.
