By "not sharp", are you referring to the secondary (tanto) edge not having a defined edge? That's part of the design, and it's like that, i believe, because it's done on a slack belt, by hand.

The tanto has an "appleseed" or convex grind which stregthens this section of the blade. Many tanto designs sport this feature such as the Buck Strider. The reenforced point prevents blade damage when scraping and stabbing with the point of the knife. Don't let the lack of bevel fool you, the knife still cuts and cuts well. Ed Fowler among others designs his knives in a similar way and they don't feel that sharp when scraped across the hand but can out cut just about anything. I believe the reason this was done on this model was for strength at the tip.
