Bob Terzuola Slipit

I sanded the lanyard hole off mine with some 400 grit sandpaper, looks far better now. I guess if you like lanyards you wouldn't do that though. I've experianced slight chipping around the edges of the carbon fiber handle as well. I've been carrying mine in my pocket with keys or clipped to my pocket for about two-three weeks now. Anyone else experiance chipping on the CF handle?

are the ball dents spring loaded? do they roll?

If not will the balls not rub there way into the blade makeing it loose?

These are actual questions i would like answerd not , comments.

the Sage 1 is my second fav knife after my Caly 3 vg-10, the carbon fibre is awsome and i love the tiwan spideis fit and finish are awsome. hope to get a bob t soon.

Yeah, the dedents are just like the dedent on a liner or frame lock except they don't lock it open. :)

They won't wear through the blade making it loose.

Chipping of the carbon fiber? This is the second post I've seen mentioning this.
I have one on order, arriving at the dealer next week.
I'm a little gun shy now, wondering if I should cancel the order, and order something else.

The CF (see pictures) is nicely radiused so I wouldn't expect chips, but then again, I haven't knocked mine around much.

Yeah, that's to bad about the CF, lets hope its just a couple of these baby's gone wrong. My alternative to theTerzoula, would be the Sage ll a few more pesos for sure.

Josh,
Which do you like more, the Terzuola or UKPK? Im looking to add a slipit to my collection soon and wanted to get an opinion.
Thanks

Depends on what you're using it for. For a high end, very classy, very unique slip joint (i.e. nontraditional) go for the Terzuola.

For EDC use where a light weight, reliable, USA made slip joint go for the UKPK.

From a straight usability stand point I like the UKPK a bit better. Lighter, a bit smoother then the Terzuola, Golden knife, and a bit more ergonomic.

I've been looking at those two as well, the UKPK with a drop point.

Josh,
While our answering questions:p....Does the lanyard hole(or whatever shape) dig into the hand at all?
I have large hands and it looks like it may.
Thanks

Bot T and UKPK:

Same blade length and handle length.
Bob T had a straighter cutting edge, UKPK slightly more bellied.

I've had & used the UKPK longer and the opening & closing is slightly smoother. The Bob T is not rough. It was gritty for the first few dozen openings and now it's just crisper, snappier than the UKPK. Both feel good, a very positive, firm open position.

I see the Bob T as a gentleman's knife and the UKPK as more of a daily utility, but that's just an aesthetic judgement. Both are beautifully constructed and equally effective.

I like the lanyard. :) Edit to add for Ken44: I have large hands, too, and the lanyard hole doesn't bother me. I can only feel it at all if I palm the knife, which isn't a grip I will use with this -- it's not a stabber!

First off, the Terzuola isn't a gritty opener, it's just a bit stronger of a lock feel then the UKPK for opening. It's really smooth, just a "tight" kind of smooth if you know what I mean.

The lanyard hole does hit your hand, but it isn't uncomfortable exactly. Not even mildly irritating. The lanyard placement was well thought out.

The ergos though, seem to be made for someone with smaller fingers. :o All these questions prompted me to dig it out and I have to say that using the forward choil (like you're supposed to) my fingers feel a bit cramped. My index finger and my middle finger feel pushed together and it isn't all the comfortable. If your hands are bigger like mine I strongly recommend you handle one before you shell out for it.

For the occasional cutting task, opening a package, twine, etc the grip isn't as important because it's a simple quick cut. This being a dressy knife I wouldn't expect it to be insanely comfortable, I would expect to be able to show it off. Which I can. :)

Ya the S30v will slow down the wear and if kept well lubed should help to.

You can seal the edge of CF with CA glue, to stop it chipping or de-laminating. Just a very thin coating applied with a cotton bud.

Hey Dave whats CA glue?

Yeah, super glue. Thin type works the best. We used to do this on RC car chassis, the edge of the CF is unsealed and will chip and de-laminate more as it scrapes the ground, sealing it makes the edge tougher when it's getting scuffed and scraped.
