yo, thanks for the info on w. brend [per our phone conversation last weekish]. i checked out your site & saw some really nice collab work. i'll definitely jeep my eye on the site for the semi-custom stuff you have that i can afford (hopefully in the near future; the brend was a gift for my dad.. my wife would be tempted to castrate me if i spent that much on a knife for ME, haha)

keep it up... i wish i could be at the blade west show, but i'll be in n.carolina on business.

just want everyone to know that branton is a straight-shooting dude who's willing to help out a fellow knife-o-phile.

cool to know that Branton's a decent fellow, he has always seemed swell here. Now, would you or someone here actually buy one of those sweet collaboration Model 2's so we can get a review going? I can't stop drooling over those things, but I want to know how they compare to the CR Green Beret, or the Simonich Raven, both in S30V.

well, i can give you a review of the brend model 2 that's been in my possession for the past couple weeks (which i'm gonna give to my dad for his 70th birthday)......... sheesh man, where do i start. it's the 8.5 inch blade, .25 thickness, classic recurve, just sexy as hell. the feel of the grip is literally unlike anything else i've ever held - almost like it was orthopedically molded for me! the radiused hilt, tang, and micarta scales are symphonically conjoined. the knife feels perfectly comfortable in any position [dagger style or conventional], and it's wieldly enough to manuver quickly, but has enough heft to dismember anything... the fit and finish are everything the knife is fabled and hyped to be. sounds like i'm talking about a beautiful chick, come to think of it ;)

here's a pic someone else has posted of the exact same knife once upon a time:

once my funds get more muscle i'm gonna pillage les robertson & bobby branton's inventories simultaneously!

Tell ya what folks, Bobby is one of the most helpful guys in the industry and a very nice person to boot. Top that off with the fine midtech knives and the knives he makes as customs and that is a hard combination to beat.

Moving over to Good Bad and Ugly.

Walter's Model 2's rock. When I played with one of Bobby's midtech's at Blade I had to add it to my collection. It's a great knife, excellent fit/finish, the satin is beautiful. I haven't gotten a chance to take mine out and play with it yet, but hopefully I'll have a chance next month after Knob Creek as I have a few days of hiking and playing in the woods planned, and the Midtech Model 2 will most likely accompany me on the trip.

Sorry, but there aren't likely to be any comparisons to the CRK Green Beret or the Midtech Raven(from me anyways)... don't have either of them, and want a few other blades more right now.

Bobby is also a great guy to deal with. There are a couple of his knives at my house and I look forward to adding more as time goes on.
