Bocote and 1095 EDC

I have another one for sale, this one is made of 1095 with a rich Bocote handle. this blade has had a mustard and vinegar patina put on it which turned out very good. the sheath is leather and is stained very dark brown, it looks black from a distance, but if you inspect it thoroughly you will find that it is indeed brown. the blade has a flat grind and is 4" long. it has 3 brass pins and a 1/4" brass tube for a lanyard. the handle feels very good in your hand. the sheath is made for vertical carry. Thanks, it was a hard choice thinking about what to use for the handles. I wanted some thing that looked somewhat dark and rustic, It was a toss up between cocobolo, wenge and bocote. I think it turned out very good.

That looks great! The built-in guard in the handle is a nice touch. Good stuff from someone as young as yourself. :thumbup: This should be gone before you get that iron out.

Missed that one,man you make a great looking knife are you going to make any more with the same style handle in bocote and great looking sheath.

I wasn't going to but I am reconsidering. I have some steel coming in this week and I may make a few more, just to pass the time till my D2 gets back from Paul Bos

Do you ever put a satin finish on the knives you make like this?

If by satin you mean sanded somewhere in the ballpark of 400 grit without the patina, then yes. if you mean something else please explain.

I just did a blade in a satin buff with black rouge, and it looks pretty good. I also have a friend with a powder coating machine, and I may have him powder coat some blades.
