Hi friends and happy holidays.

So I just got this in the mail a little while ago. Small 21 Sebenza with ladder SS Damascus blade and Bocote wood. I was looking at this knife for a while, and with the new 25 coming out I wanted another small high end 21 to carry. I'm not sure how long it will be before Chris releases the small 25 but the pivot system on the 21s are still my favorite. I'm in the process of getting a Mnandi in the same config as this one. It should make a nice pair. Below you find a link to my YouTube channel and a vid I just did on this knife. http://youtu.be/Usf86QTmPy8

Fit and finish on this knife is just CRK suburb. The ss damascus blade seemed to have oil on it, but after further examination I realized it has Chris's clearkote finish. The thought they stopped putting this on their Damascus or only used it on B&W Damascus in the past. Though I did have a ss damascus Mnandi one time that had it. Anyhow, pretty cool. It gives the knife a nice sheen. The wood on this knife is fantastic! I'm not a huge fan of some of the woods used on Sebenzas, but this one really stands out. It reminds me of bark mammoth ivory. Anyhow, thanks for reading my babble, and I hope everyone has a Knife Holiday and a Happy New CRK Year!

Very Nice blackend, the whole package just comes together so well, congrats bro.

I'm going to watch your video tomorrow over coffee, but I sure love your photos, looks terrific!

That's really beautiful. The inlays are wonderful and the blade is gorgeous. Big congratulations

Awesome! Looks great with that "mammoth" blade!;) I like the lanyard:thumbup:

^ Dude, you're killing me. Lol

Thanks for the comments friends.

Lisa, I can only hope to have your collection standards some day!

You know, buddy -- you're getting more than your fair share for the holidays. :) BTW, great video!

You know it Dave. Can't say I'm ashamed tho. Well maybe a little.:p

Hey, are you sure the damscus has a clearkote finish? I was told by CRK that they stopped using the clearkotea long time ago. I personally hope they have brought it back as it adds a real shimmer to the blade and really bings out the patters in the damascus.

I currenty own one with the clearkote and this one looks and feels just like it. There is a way to etch, polish, and re-etch Damascus to make it shine brighter. Haven't really seen Chris do this. All other current ladder SS dam has a dull matte finish to it. So by the texture and look of this blade, I'd have to say yes, it is coated. I will try and confirm with the factory after the holidays.

That's really interesting and thanks for the update. I for one like the look of a clearkoted blade better, but know from experience that it can show scratches and marks more then an uncoated blade. I was under the impression that's why they stopped doing it in the first place. It would be nice to hear what CRK has to say on the matter so please post an update after you speak with them.

cheers

CRK does not use clearkote with their SS damascus. I think you are just seeing the sheen of a well-buffed blade. Watch soloknivesreview's Youtube video Using Damascus. In it he talks about the clearkote issue. Here is a picture of my raindrop by Devin and it is SS without clearkote. But hard to see the sheen with this photo. But it is there, almost looks like clearkote.

Thx for the input friends. I had a Mnandi one time with the coating that did indeed start to "peel"/ scratch off. I sent it back for a refurb job but it came back looking the same. I eventually moved it. I'm gonna take a closer look at this one. Needless to say, yes, this is one sharp looking knife... Pun intended. :D
