Ebay vendor "bodhissattvas.3" (Jon and/or Sharon Kousaleos -- both names used) measure(s) the "length" of a curved blade by measuring around the outside of the curve with "a string," rather than in a straight line from tip to butt.

This practice may desult in surprise/disappointment, and he/she/they will not take the item back. He/she/they claim 14 years experience collecting khukuri.

Also, you might wish to confirm their descriptions generally before bidding.

Well that does measure the cutting edge. But if you asked overall length that is incorrect. Either way, if your not happy they should make it right

My bad. It was a khukuri. The seller measured the "length" of the spine of the knife. Hardly a useful bit of information.

I think you can argue that isn't normal practice, imagine applying it to a hawkbill. Do whatever you want, just be clear, like HI refers to total length, so a 15" Ang Khola doesn't have a 15" blade, this confused a few people at first.
