Body fat

For an accurate body fat percentage you need alot of equipment. Most people give you quotes based off of height to weight ratios and caliper readings. Truth is those methods are VERY innacurate.

Also, when you are starving your body eats up muscle too. We are wonderfully made creatures and our bodies do some really cool stuff.

I am 6',weight 242pounds, stocky building, got fat around my torso section, still thinking it's good for outdoor and survival, keeps you warm in the freezing cold high up in the mountains you know~

and strange as it is, i tried everything to get rid of that fat but failed every time so i think it's just me. now i eat 5 times a day and go to gym 3 times a week. doing some combat training now but it just enlarges my muscle mass and the fat is still there~

I don't know what mine is, but I'm 5' 8" and around 190 lbs (give or take 2-3 depending if it's the morning or evening :o). I feel great but would like to drop 10 - 15 lbs.

For those of you in college, you should have an on campus clinic with a nutritionist who can give you a free checkup on your body fat percentage and even a suggested meal plan (at least TAMUK has that free to students).

I've been below 5% (strep infection and working in the field) veins were visible everywhere.. Probably about 10% at the moment..

The Norwegians doing unsupported ski trips to the North and South pole usually try to gain quite a bit of fat before leaving. For most people it shouldn't matter much in a survival situation unless the fat % was very very low.
