Does anyone know or willing to take a guess what steel body work tools are made of. Would they make a decent forging hammer or maybe a hawk?

Thanks
Jon

Jon, most body hammers are too light for forging. Might be alright for a finishing hammer. They would work fine for armor or other light metalwork.
No idea what composition dollies are but they must be high carbon.

Good hammers, good steel. Cheap hammers, cheap steel. You can get $5 hammers or you can pay $100 for some. Same thing with dollys. Snap-On & Martin are great hammers but still don't know what the steel is. Like any unknown steel, it'd be a 'crap shoot'!
