Bodybuilding & Weightlifting supplements and nutrition?

How about a science on the subject. BTW, I was wrong a about the physiologist part. It was the Food and Nutrition Board in 1945. If you actually bother to read the article, you might learn something. I am not saying that this applies to everyone under all conditions. For example, in Iraq in the summer, some of the soldiers could not drink enough to prevent dehydration and had to have fluids by IV. That is an extreme case though.

Had a friend learn that one the hard way.

I see what you did there.

My son is very health conscious. He is a vegetarian, get's plenty of exercise and drinks lots of water. He is also gets kidney stones.

Everyone has a story about this and that. Some people drink very little water and have no problems. Others drink lots of water and still have problems. One size does not fit all.

Personal biology and genetics play a significant role for each of us.

On average most people would be well served with a better diet and less soda. Ignoring extreme and unusual situations, it isn't that hard to see someone suffering from poor nutrition and hydration in modern society.

For myself, I gave up most soda a long time ago as well as most processed food and restaurant meals especially fast food.

Now I'm looking at things to help me recover from shoulder surgery without consuming unreasonable quantities of 'good' food and dealing with excessive calories.

Going into your lifting routeen slow is going to win in the long run. I just had a hernia surgery October 18th. Felt fine till a week ago. No heavy lifting, felt some tightness in my abs around the surgery. I'm in constant pain now. I'll probably go back and let them check me out, I'm tired of this crap. Doesn't feel like the stitches ripped or anything, hoping it's just agitated since I'm moving around more. But I got to work.

It's been 9 days. That doesn't sound right. You should definitely check with your doctor. I have had surgery a couple of times. There was a little pain for two or three weeks, but not debilitating even after open heart surgery.

September 18th, sorry about that
