And a bit of history is always appreciated, the D2 came out first (i think) so when did the 101s come out and what markings separate the two?

The Bog Dog was, and still is one of my all time favorites.
The D2 version did come out first, and I remember a competition for the naming of it, and if I remember right, the prize was a Bog Dog. We all had a go, but I forget who eventually won it.

Here's some pics, the SR 101 version was slightly thicker than the D2.

I ordered one of the last D2 versions, and got a 52100. Kept it, excellent blade geometry. I'm not a huge fan of the mudder handle, but it works well. An excellent knife that doesn't get nearly as much credit as it deserves.

I'ts no fun to sharpen, but when you get it there the edge hangs on for ages. I was putting an edge on one the other day.

LOL. It's a Black Angus X Hereford steer. I skinned and butchered that in the back of a dump truck with a fella holding a torche that had nearly flat batteries. It had met with a head on out on the road with a car, so the council guy let me bone it out for my dogs before taking the rest of it to the dump.
