Saw these two, they are described as "Bucks" and at first glance thought they might be older 110's, but when I e-mailed the seller about the blade markings to determine what age they were, he replied that they are stamped "STAINLESS" and "PAKISTAN".

I replied that these are NOT Buck knives, but the listings are still up, so heads up these two are bogus.

Somehow, and I forgot how you can report fraudlent listings to ebay. I've done it on 3 or 4 occasions and action was taken (listing removed) within a day.

You may have to sign in. Look for the 'Services' link (at the top).
Go get 'em boy!!!! Grrrr.... Loose the hounds!

I'll keep an eye on his auctions. Sometimes it is an innocent mistake and I like to give folks the benefit of the doubt.
Thanks for the heads up.

If my memory serves, he only have a few feedbacks, 8 I think, so I am not sure if he actually knew, but he does now because I told him in a polite way. If he leaves them up, I'm afraid he will have some unhappy buyers when they get them.

You know, I think part of the problem may be that people sometimes use the term "Buck Knife" as a generic name meaning any folding knife with brass bolsters and wood handles. I don't know whether this seller is doing so or not (and if he is intentionally trying to pass of crap as a Buck, I'd be pretty annoyed). It's almost like "Buck Knife" is being treated like "Kleenex" or "Band-Aid." Both are specfic brands that have come to represent any one of a number of "facial tissues" or "advesive bandages." In fact, this is nothing new, and 20 years ago my brother talked of getting a "buck knife" when he was not referring to the specific Buck brand. At the same time, It does annoy me when people flood the Buck section of eBay with all sorts of non-Buck brand products. Search on "Buck Knife" and you'll usually get between 700 and 800 hits, many with really annoying titles like the following real examples from tonight: "DALE EARNARDT SR and JR Engraved Buck Style Knife" and the slightly more subtle attempt to show up in the search match: "Deer Skin knife, not muzzy, matthews, scents, arrows, buck"

in this case you are obviously right. I wonder, however, if I were selling a knife that I neither knew anything about nor cared about, and someone whom I don't know from adam emails me and tells me that the knife i'm listing should be taken down, would I actually do it or disregard it completely, especially if I'm just trying to get a quick buck.

I have one of those pakistani "buck" knives. Holy cow is that a bad knife. I can't get it to sharpen and I've spent a lot of time on it. I'm no expert, but I can usually get a knife to "paper cutting" sharp in a few minutes on the sharpmaker, but this one has evaded my attempts to sharpen it.

What?! No one told me about the Dale Earnhardt Buck Knives!

I think that someone was making a point, Case has a deal with D.E.I. for Sr. and Jr. knives, but I have never seen a Buck with them on it. I will be THRILLED if I am wrong on this though! Cause I would love to have one!

Indeed I really used to get mad at sellers like that {what SJS said!!} and I fired off several emails to them to ‘correct’ their listings until I got very tired of it and started thinking more like SJS and really tried to come to emotional peace through thought and knowledge….and more thought.

Humm… in a search of the net for Buck you will come across other buck companies {creek and brothers are two that come to mind fast} that produce ‘sharp’ things some of them as incorporated companies during the time that al was in the navy!

Additionally, I and others have heard of a dollar store or a dollar item or dollar tool and a dollar is also a buck… so a buck tool is a cheap tool that only cost a buck and I have loaned out tools from Japan that the barrower came back and said that I “…should tie a damm dollar to it so that if I loose it I would owe you a buck cause I really lost something!” so a buck knife could be a reference to a cheep knife that if you break or loose it that you have not lost any thing of importance or value. Humm …

The 110 design is not patented, seems I read somewhere that in coming up with the locking blade design that the engineer studied quite a number of other locking folding blade designs and incorporated what he liked in what he showed to the board of directors at Buck Knives, inc. in the early 60’s to get approved to start production on. Whoa… is it that the buck 110 is itself a sum [inspired copy’s] of other designs brought together in the best quality folding/locking knife ever? That the most copied knife in the world is itself a improved collective ‘copy’?

Its like this for me – if they use a capital “B’ in Buck Knife yep it better be related to Joe… if not it needs to say “made by-‘’ or I would say that they are trying to rip off Buck.
I have and still do fire an email to the ones that list a knife that is a auto with BUCK etched on it and it is a rip off. I am surprised that Joe or Buck Co. don’t get after them. Also letting others advertise auto conversions of Buck knives with saying that Buck did not authorized the conversion!!! Well Joe, do youa’l ? Seems you made a change once cause of a court investigations to modifications on a 110?

Well I expect to have my back chewed on for some of what I said above so I leave now,
As always I am respectfully yours,
David

Seems that every day I see more and more of the Auto Bucks. There was one guy that said they were factory authorised or some such wording. I sent him an email and nicely explained that the wording was misleading.
Buck does not authorise any of the auto conversions and the knives have no warrantee from Buck. Period.
The autos with Buck and Cumberland etched on the blade are total counterfiets. Our legal department has been informed about those knives.
