Boiling rain water or snow for drinking?

I boil it all. Better safe than sorry.

And it's not just bacteria you need to worry about. Many parasites love to travel via water or unwashed produce. Yummy.
 
Wow, I had no idea about that. So if in the middle of the rain forest, making a rain catch and drinking the water with out boiling is a no go?

I had the worst experience with eating snow. It gave me the worst stomach pain for a week and I lost a lot of weight. All I did that week was lie in bed clutching my stomach.

This was in Lake Tahoe at the top at one of the mountains with fresh snow. I heard after that snow near major cities carry a lot pollution.
