Hey all, I've got this knife I'm currently bidding on at EBAY (the link is below) and I'm in love with it but I do have one big concern because I've never owned one of these before.

I've read and read and I cannot seem to find out definitely what kind of steel the blades are. Now I've read about knives that are similar to this one and I've come up with 1095 type steel which I understand rusts easily.

Do you all maybe know what kind of steel the blades could be?? There several pictures in the link that are detailed if it will help. Thank you for your help.

Based on my experience with a Boker stockman, it's 1095 or something very close, but likely tempered quite hard, maybe 59-60. Great edge holders. Don't worry about rust; never had a problem with mine in years of regular carry.

That's excellent news! I wonder if you've had to oil it regularly or what did you do to have such a good track record with it??

If it is not stainless, it's 1075 carbon steel on that Boker Congress.
Takes a nice edge.
The Bokers marked "Solingen Germany" are made completely in Germany.

Please do not link to active auctions.

Ho guys! How'd your bid go Gavon? Did ya win? I just bought the Boker 5465 congress and LOVE it! Still needs to be taken to a strop, but it's mighty fine!
