Boker = Design Thiefs ?

Boker = Design Thiefs? No. And if they are, almost everybody else is one, too. Isn't it closing time already? This thread is going nowhere.

Here's another one, sodbusters, that you can add to the list:

http://www.knivesplus.com/BOKER-KNIVES-FOLDERS-DELRIN-HANDLE-SODBUSTER.HTML#1904

We may think of sodbusters as being a Case product, but so far I have found sodbusters also made/offered by Boker, Kissing Crane, German Bull, Moore Maker, Fight'N Rooster, Stanley, Eye Brand, Aitor, Gebr. Berns, Rough Rider and Queen. No variation in design, they are all copies of each other...with the exception of liner locks or spring locks, and handle material. Some of these are made in Germany, Italy, Argentina and China, besides USA. Some of them are crap.

Seriously? A design that's reliably dated to over 200 years old, and you're claiming copies exist? Sods were made before WR Case was a glint in his dad's eye, and they'll be made after we're all dust.

Not to stir up an old thread, but many of the import pieces seem to be Taylor and Winchester re-brands. Ghost-contracting?

Boker is also a LOT older than the companies mentioned. Also the idea that boker would steal from Cold Steal is ridiculous.

Boker has been around a long time. Boker is also extremely prolific as far as its own unique designs are concerned. They really don't need to fill out their line-up with other companies' models.

Taylor and Winchester are just names. Boker is a manufacturer on three continents. If anyone is re-branding it is probably the Taylor and Winchester names being put on the basic patterns others have made (as Boker does) in Asian factories.

I only say this because there are a couple of models that I know are literally identical in every detail to ones that Winchester and Taylor put out. These are only the "super cheap bottom of the barrel" ones, bear in mind. This one, for instance. This one can be found in both lineups, and I've held each in hand side-by-side. One just said Boker Magnum and the other said Winchester. Probably the same asian manufacturer for both?

I was just curious if anyone had any further info. That's all. I guess no one does. ::shrug::

They don't look that close to me eithe. However even if thet were copies of each other, I wouldn't know or are which came first. If I like a design and it's a good dollar value I would buy it.

I also agree that since knives have been made since the stone age, there are no original designs in the last couple hundred years. I also agree that if there ever was a copy, it was copies of the 110.
