Boker/GTC Federal First Thoughts and Initial Review Pic HEAVY

I'm hand rubbing the sides of the frame on mine to 800 grit. I'll post pics when the first slab is done.

I'd like to see that. I'm on the hunt for a cheap rock tumbler to begin a stonewash on the blade. I'm hoping it will look good.

See I love the satin finish on the blade and I want to match it on the edges.

It actually looks really good at 220 and I'm excited to see how it turns out.

I'm doing 220, 220 wet, 400, 400 wet, 800 and 800 wet using nothing but my fingers and sandpaper.

Getting that first layer of scratch down on blasted ti is a bitch.

Here's the comparison with the completed satin edge next to the stock bead blast. One down, one to go. I have about 5 hours in the first one.

Well here it is all finished, i love the way it came out but man its definitely a labor of love...took roughly 10 hours total.

Wow - great job. You virtually have a custom.

Thanks man! =)

I wouldn't go that far haha...I just wanted to give it that extra gtc touch.

I thought the mirror polish would look weird on the bead blast so I went with satin. It matches the blade nicely too.

I was originally going to satin finish the frame and mirror the edges but the ribbed section would most likely show remnants of bead blasting and it would drive me nuts. I also sold all of my other blasted ti knives and i like the way it scratches and earns character.

just for my GTC Federal. only had it outta the box for about an hour. very impressed with the knife. great fit and finish. does anyone else's have a sticky lock? I might have just gotten a bad one.

I also got a Federal recently and I'm liking it so far, there are a couple F&F issues like not evenly ground blade.

Mine was also sticky for a while but after a couple of days it broke in. I put pencil lead on the lock face to help with the sticking but it wore off on its own.

thanks for the tip, I'll try it out.

Man, when Boker gets it right, they get it right. This GTC collab and the Burnley Kwaiken flipper are two huge successes for them, I think. I loved my Burnley Boker, and this looks great, retaining a a lot of the design cues from Gus's customs.
