at first i thought it was me, but after having pretty much everyone i know try to open this knife one handed and watching them invariably fail i realize this beautiful knife is unfortunately flawed. im sure its an easy fix of either deepening and extending the groove on the scale or making an extended thumb catch, but i mean c'mon. nobody in the whole design and manufacturing of this knife thought that not being able to cleanly and easily open this knife was a problem? its such a pleasure otherwise. just disappointed.

Join the club man.Thats definitely a HUGE flaw on this knife.I had a buddy make a wider thumbstud for me.Also Blade HQ is releasing an exclusive one with orange G10 and a wider thumb disc as well.

Flipper mod by Alex Dietz makes the knife 10x better. I didn't have much issue with kwaiken before I had that done

Sorry guys... we will fix that by enlarging the size of the thumbdisc... I've never ever had a problem opening any of the Kwaiken folders... but I have heard about it. So, it is just a question of time...

iceman, i like. how much and does he do them in anything other than carbon fiber. thanks, leif

I love the design and I learned to live with it.
Just wait for the second run.

Why not add the flipper too?

The larger thumb discs will be available as a spare part, so, everyone having problems opening it, can order the enlarged thumb disc... or better, now it is mor oval shaped...

Adding a flipper... sounds good to me

That's awesome news! Will we just send a request to the warranty department for them? Personally, I do not like the real Burnley Kwaiken flipper aesthetically, but if you guys were to do the same thing as everyone else has been doing to modify their's into a flipper I wouldn't be opposed.

Slightly (and I mean SLIGHTLY) reducing the lock bar detent pressure should take care of it nicely...

No, there will be no charge, but I do have to receive the discs in the shop before I can send them out. I will post it here when they come in.

Can the first 100 folk get a FREE new thumb disk? :D

Hey Lycosa,
everyone, who feels the need for a new disc will get one.
BUT, I handled around 20-30 different Kwaiken folders and was always able to open them quickly with my thumb. I've never had a problem with the old disc...

Lucas burnley told me you guys will in fact be making a kwaiken with the flipper. Any idea on an eta?
